Well at least he hasn’t attempted to cut off his own ear (YET).

Is it true that Vincent Van Gogh said to the hat salesman, “I like it, but it keeps sliding over my ear.” ?

Wow!

Is he the first artist to get arrested for DUI?

The CHP is out for blood these days. No break for anyone, and lots of questionable citations.

The charges of fraud are about his business dealings, not about his merits as an artist.

When Graham licked Clintons’ axx, I thought, ‘’well I was right about him all along.’’

Years ago when he first came on the scene, I fell in love with a few of his paintings, especially the ones with gates or paths. I have a thing for wrought iron and gates especially. Anyway, once his art went “viral” and you could not only buy a bazillion paintings but it was on blankets, mugs, calendars, coasters, etc., that was just way too schlocky for me. I have one small picture, which is just a card I framed - about 3 x 5 (of a gate, natch.). I agree with what you say. Meanwhile, there are a lot of very famous “painters” who stink in other ways.

I love those Photoshops!

(You have to be careful before posting them, though, because sometimes there’s something a little...disturbing... happening that you don’t see at first glance!)

All JMO: an artist’s technique can be perfect, but without integrity the art is unsatisfying. By integrity, I mean that the artist tells the truth without omission. There is a boundary between art and propaganda for a dead ideal.

Oh this is just too funny.... So many people like pictures of sparkly fairies, unicorns, and angels too.

I know he has been called the "painter of lite" (a mocking reference to his "Painter of Light" label) and is normally ignored or worse by those who take their art seriously.

I like his paintings. I know they are nothing more than a softened, idealized look at the world. I just find that appealing to the eye, and I don't really care if there is a deeper message within the painting.

I wish he was as idealized as his paintings. Apparently he is not. But when I look at his paintings, I see he paintings, not him. (And I see a lot of memories of time spent in England - scenic countrysides and beautiful villages.)

Geez Oblomov! From all the great spoofs on that site you had to pick the one that actually pulls a heartstring or two (however inadvertently).

That one actually works for me.

Originally the soldier in Kinkade’s patriotic-themed “Heading Home” was just... heading home, but here he’s dead and being welcomed into heaven by J.C.; and if this is heaven no wonder it looks a little goofy.

Now I’m all choked up. Damn you! Damn you to hell! (or whatever kinda limbo was being portrayed in that awful movie with Robin Williams being dead and trying to save his suicided wife from purgatory: “What Dreams May Come”—which seemed to be strongly influenced by his stuff as to backdrop animation).

He should have been arrested years ago—for his paintings.

If I had the dough I’d sponsor a “Not Kinkade” exhibit, featuring works exploring the exact same themes, only by REAL artists, from John Constable to John Henry Twatchman.
