Mormon belief of the Crucifixion seems to be that in order to distance mormonism from Christianity, the Atonement was the climax of Christ's mission and he sweat blood in Gethsamane...then the Crucifixion, because the Cross would be a featured player, was just the anticlimax to the Atonement.
Those early leaders worked real hard to put a lot of ground between Christian belief and mormon belief.
That was before some PR flack convinced the leaders in Salt Lake that mormons ought to be called "Christians".
A Response to Latter-day Saints Who Say, "We Never Criticize Christian Churches"
The mormon "motto" is Choose the Right...Christians prefer to
Because I have an understanding of Freemason's, which of course is cultic, the copying of freemasonry rituals, handshakes etc. was quite astounding....all their temple mumble jumbo breathes cultic practices, again amazing. Below is a snip from one posters comments. Which after looking myself I have to agree with.
Masonic Influence..... “Even knowledgeable Mormons admit that the endowment ceremony contains many details that are similar to the Masonic initiation rites of Joseph Smith's day. The symbols, oaths, handclasps, and terminology resemble the Masonic ritual in hundreds of ways. Smith's introduction of the endowment ceremony came two months after he had been initiated into Freemasonry.”
So Joseph Smith was very much active in Freemason cult practices and copied much into the mormon practices as he built his following.....additionally He certainly wanted the adoration of Mohammedanism....further he was a mystical practitioner..which is satanic....the list of this vile man goes on with his history of death and abuse as his mantel. All completely hidden or “scrubbed” from the mormon history the membership are presented with....and it's all staged how and when the leadership delivers it's “messages” and conducts it's rituals....almost mind-boggling, really! But then this is exactly how cults operate.
I really did get detoured from how they see the Crucifixion....but in light of what I just keep learning of them...it would make sense it's not going to carry much weight along side of all their other practices and beliefs. Still I do want to look more carefully at.
.....”Joseph Smith claimed that he had seen both God the Father and Jesus Christ and asked these personages which church he should join.”.........
Now that statement pretty much tells me this man was either insane or a lier...perhaps both.
Using the word “personages” is very deceptive, rather like the Democrates soft selling their demonic ideas and agendas.
