When my husband and I went to Mass last evening, unfortunately our parish priest was ill, so a guest priest said Mass.
When he read the Gospel, he changed He to she. Later the substitute priest said we really don't know if the Holy Spirit is a he or a she.
Later he said, wouldn't the altar girl make a good priest some day, even though the Vatican said women priests is a closed issue. It won't happen.
There were a few other things, but those were the things that bothered me the most.
Here is the gospel, where he changed He to she:
"Jesus said to his disciples: "I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now. But when he comes, the Spirit of truth, he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own, but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me, because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you. Everything that the Father has is mine; for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mine and declare it to you."
Uh, no...It doesn't apply to me...
The reason I responded to your post was that it seemed a little ironic that you appear to possess the very same attitude that you are accusing Protestants of having...
The way you worded it didn't make that clear (considering the tense used). If you wrote "I later found out that this guest priest used to have his own parish and is now retired" would have left no doubt.
Saying "I later found out that this guest priest had his own parish" does not at all imply that he no longer has one. Saying that he is of retirement age also does not mean that he is retired.
Nevertheless, I would still like to know who he is. He must have left a trail that irked someone else other than you. Otherwise it's just another anecdotal "he said, she said" tale as far as I am concerned.
What you allege about him is too radical for the Catholic Church to go unnoticed. It also suggests that his Bishop is too radical himself for allowing it while this alleged priest still had his alleged parish.
Now, if you said he wan an Anglican priest, no problem. But this story is just a bit "over the top." So, let's just dispense with anecdotal allegations and have the facts. Thank you very much.
Oh, yeah, right, they work 24/7/365, never get sick, never get to see their parents and family, never get to go anywhere. Another pearl.
Yes. And if the Bishop doesn't take action, call the Cardinal. That Priest is a weak link and he needs to either get with the program or leave.
“That Priest is a weak link and he needs to either get with the program or leave.”
Absolutely. He should not be allowed to say Mass ANYWHERE, and possibly lead - who knows how many people - in the wrong direction. Leading astray even ONE person would be one too many.
I would cc all of them, but I am like that ;)
Why do Protestants like porn so much?
another thread I should have skipped!
The Parish priest did not invite him because he was sick; it was somebody from the Church council. I’m hoping the substitute priest was last on a list, and she felt desperate. Anyway, I’m going to call the Parish office, and my husband will call the bishop’s office, for starters.
Best wishes
Thank you. Please say a prayer for all involved, including the substitute priest.
I guess you smell something, but it wasn’t a zot. May we suggest a shower occasionally?
Don't know who the "Earl of Hell" is, nor a "weskit", but it has a nice ring for a metaphor. Curiously, just how would a Catholic judge a teacher, a priest, a bishop, a pope for "heresy and abuses"? Does this extend to doctrines promulgated? If so, what is your measuring stick?
LOL! Haven't heard that for a while ...
If the Catholic priests didn't leave it lying around on the coffee tables we would probably get over it.
Pretty much the only thing to do ... and shake the dust from your feet as testimony against them. I've walked out of a couple of supposedly Catholic supposed churches when it became clear that whatever was going on that Sunday morning was NOT Mass.
That is because, my FRiend, one cannot recognize an encounter with the living Christ until He removes scales from the eyes. When He gives freedom to the enslaved, grants rescue to the wicked, saves the unworthy it does not look like the sick and twisted religion of Rome.
Do you have anything to contribute here besides taunting posters?
No, it looks like Dutchboy88 instead. What religion are you, if we may ask?
Primarily, he is revealing a lot about himself and his “confession”.
