Here are two poems, not written by me, that both express in a powerful way what a lot of us have been sensing and of course what scripture clearly says-And I have added a fitting Psalm as well, enjoy-
THE SECOND COMING by WB Yeats (1919)
Turning and turning in the widening Gyre
The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
Things fall apart,the center cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world
The blood dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere,
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
the best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.
Surely some revelation is at hand;
Surely the second coming is at hand
The Second Coming! Hardly are those words out
When a vast Image out of Spiritus Mundi
Troubles my sight:a waste of desert sand;
A shape with Lion body and the head of a man,
A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,
Is moving its slow thighs, while all about it
Wind shadows of the indignant desert birds; The Darkness drops again but now I know
That twenty centuries of stony sleep
Were vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,
And what rough Beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
ONCE BY THE OCEAN- ROBERT FROST
The shattered water made a misty din.
Great waves looked over others coming in,
And thought of doing something to the shore,
That water never did to land before.
The clouds were low and hairy in the skies,
Like locks blown forward in the gleam of eyes.
You could not tell, and yet t looked as if
The shore was lucky in being backed by a cliff,
The cliff in being backed by continent;
It looked as if a night of dark intent
Was coming,
and not only a night ,an age.
Someone had better be prepared for rage.
There would be more than ocean water broken
Before Gods last
Put out the light was spoken.
PSALM 2
Why do the heathen Rage?
And the people imagine a vain thing?
The Kings of the earth and the princes take council together
Against the Lord and His Messiah.
Let us break their yoke and cast of their bonds from us!
He that sits in the heavens shall laugh,the LORD shall have them in derision,
Than shall He speak unto them in His wrath and vex them in his sore displeasure,
Yet I have set my King upon my holy Hill of Zion
I will declare the decree, the Lord hath said unto me,
Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee
Ask of me and I will give thee the heathen for thy inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy posession,
Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron,
thou shalt dash them in pieces as a potters vessel
Be wise now therefore ye Kings, be instructed ye judges of the earth,
Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling,
Kiss the Son, lest he be angry with you and you perish from the way,
When His wrath is kindled but a little,
Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
Good post.
When years of time shall pass away,
And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall,
When men, who here refuse to pray,
On rocks and hills and mountains call,
Gods love so sure, shall still endure,
All measureless and strong;
Redeeming grace to Adams race
The saints and angels song.
O love of God, how rich and pure!
How measureless and strong!
It shall forevermore endure
The saints and angels song.
