The new translations seem to be more faithful to the old Latin Mass.

Only in some parts. Even though the new translation (the first real translation, actually) is more "vertical" and dignified and more faithful to the Latin source text, the problems of the Latin source text remain. The Latin source text is what was so radically re-written after Vatican II. Many of the most beautiful old prayers are still missing, and all of the questionable new stuff is still there. The new translation is still rife with options that practically beg the celebrant to improvise and "improve" the Mass. I appreciate this small step of a better translation, but liturgically speaking, the Church is still in serious trouble.

Thanks for the imput.

The good news is that we seem to have a Pope that understands the sacredness of the Mass is so critical for spiritual development.

Let's hope the others in Rome will see the big picture. Either way we have God who's still in charge.

Blessings to you.
