Jesus knew that the disciples were not morons and would understand that He was speaking symbolically without having to spell it out for them.

You have to ignore so much of Scripture to believe what you believe.

Paul had a different understanding than yours, and talks about the dangers of not discerning the real presence of Christ in the bread:

“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus, the same night in which he was betrayed, took bread, And giving thanks, broke and said: Take ye and eat: This is my body, which shall be delivered for you. This do for the commemoration of me. In like manner also the chalice, after he had supped, saying: This chalice is the new testament in my blood. This do ye, as often as you shall drink, for the commemoration of me. For as often as you shall eat this bread and drink the chalice, you shall show the death of the Lord, until he come. Therefore, whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord. But let a man prove himself: and so let him eat of that bread and drink of the chalice. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord. 1 Cor 11:23-31

How in the world do you eat bread unworthily? Guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord for not believing it is a symbol? And what part of “not discerning the body of the Lord” is confusing to you?

Paul had a different understanding than yours, and talks about the dangers of not discerning the real presence of Christ in the bread:

Paul is not concerned about "the real presence of Christ in the bread". He is concerned about the real presence of Christ in your life.

What is the purpose of Holy Communion? The purpose is completely the opposite of what you are believing. Communion is holy as it was instituted by our LORD. It's purpose is to continually bring Christians back to their foundational belief which is that salvation is through the shed blood and broken body of our LORD Jesus Christ. It is to keep us grounded in the simplicity that there is in Christ Jesus (1Cr 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.) It is to keep alive the memory of what Jesus did for us day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, generation after generation. It is to help keep us from becoming corrupted by adding onto His death, the shedding of His blood and the breaking of His body, in any way a requirement for our salvation. So you see that Catholics have done that what is anathema to His original intent. They have used the very ceremony that is to constantly remind us to not be removed from the simplicity of The Gospel of Jesus Christ (2Cr 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.), that salvation comes through Christ alone because He died for us on the cross and perverted it into an act of idolatry, falling down on one's knees and worshiping a piece of bread and some wine that was only intended to be a constant reminder that the heart of The Gospel is Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

...............

"This is my body, which shall be delivered for you. This do for the commemoration of me. In like manner also the chalice, after he had supped, saying: This chalice is the new testament in my blood. This do ye, as often as you shall drink, for the commemoration of me."

Jesus clearly states the purpose of communion here. He does not say do this so that over and over you will literally eat my flesh and my blood. He clearly says do this for the commemoration of me.

According to dictionary.com and common knowledge commemoration is the act of purposefully remembering someone or something in a special way.

1.the act of commemorating.

2.a service, celebration, etc., in memory of some person or event. 3.a memorial.

4.(in many Christian churches) a special service or prayer for commemorating the lesser feast on days on which two feasts of unequal rank are celebrated.

If you read the verses you have written in context you will see what Paul meant by not decerning the body. I would suggest that you go back and read the entire chapter carefully. What is The LORD's body but The Church. The Corintheans were being exceedingly selfish and also some were drunk. They ate in front of others who went hungry. They took The LORD's Supper while drunk obviously not with awe and holy reverence. This is why Paul wrote the verses that you quoted not having anything at all to do with not accepting the symbolic bread and wine as the actual blood and body of The LORD.

1Cr 11:20 When ye come together therefore into one place, [this] is not to eat the Lord's supper.

1Cr 11:21 For in eating every one taketh before [other] his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

1Cr 11:22 What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise [you] not.

1Cr 11:23 ¶ For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the [same] night in which he was betrayed took bread:

...........................

Remember when Jesus died on the cross the last words that He spoke were "It is finished". Clearly His crucifixion was over and the salvation's work was done. What can we do but accept what He has already accomplished for us? Nothing.

Jhn 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Rom 6:10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.

Hbr 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

1Pe 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Hbr 7:27 Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people's: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.

Hbr 9:12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption [for us].

Hbr 9:28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Hbr 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all].
