For an interpretation of Scripture to be acceptable (which does not mean it is necessarily correct), it must at least conform to the basic dogmatic teachings of the Church. Notice the criteria is that the interpretation of Scripture be acceptable over being correct?
Obviously the correct interpretation of Scripture is secondary to this guy, and is supposed to be secondary to Catholics in general.

Since it was the Church under the influence of the Holy Spirit that selected the books of the Bible, it stands to reason that the Church will have the authority to interpret it. And the gates of hell will not prevail against it...

You lost me there totally. That is bassackwards. Agreed! I got to that part and knew the rest was just...blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!! It IS awful convenient to proclaim only the One, True Church of Christ is authorized to say what Scripture says AND then to say, "Well! Whaddaya know...WE ARE THAT CHURCH!!!
