The nature of the sin is less important than the CONSEQUENCES of that sin.

The nature of the sin is less important than the CONSEQUENCES of that sin.

Speaking of consequences, I believe one of the consequences is sin will drive you into personal and COMMUNAL perversion.

It starts with a few and then suddenly the entire community gets infected.

I was jsut reading the story of Sodom and Gommorah again and it struck me how perverted the people in that city have become. Angels disguised themselves as men and visited Lot and his family. A group of men in the city, knowing that these strangers were there banged on Lot's door and DEMANDED THAT THEY BE TAKEN OUT SO THAT THEY COULD RAPE THEM ( yes RAPE THEM )! What sort of perverted people would think this way ?

And notice Lot's response -- he actually valued hospitality to his guess above his own daughters telling these men to rape his daughters instead !! ( this is the nephew of Abraham mind you !). These men actually REFUSED to rape the women and INSISTED that the strangers be brought out. Luckily, these "men" were actually angels and they were able to blind these perverts.

Note that this is not the first time such peversion occurred. Reading further in the Bible, we have the Book of Judges ( one of the rated R books of the Old Testament ).

In the last three chapters, we have a Levite and his wife planning to go back to their tribe and having to stop one night in a town in the tribe of Benjamin. They were offered lodging by a man. Guess what ? IT HAPPENED AGAIN, in Israel at that !! The men of the town demanded that the Levite be brought to them so that he can be raped.

I'm not going to go into all the gory ( yes I said gory ) details of the story, suffice it to say that this incident caused a civil war in Israel and almost caused the extinction of the tribe of Benjamin.

If one thinks that sexual perversion is only pervasive in today's Hollywood culture, all one has to do is read the Bible to conclude that perversion has always existed from the beginning of history.
