Pope Benedict to deliver 'intense' message during Fatima visit
EWTN News ^ | 5/5/2010

"Fatima is a particularly significant place for this Pope," said Vatican spokesman Fr. Federico Lombardi on Tuesday, noting that it was also a destination for two former Popes. The Holy Father has a thorough knowledge of the history of the Marian sanctuary, he added.

Fr. Lombardi held a press conference at the Vatican to prepare the media for the Pope's next trip out of the Vatican. He will be visiting Portugal from May 11-14.

The spokesman referred to the Pope's stop in Fatima on May 13 as the highlight and "heart" of the upcoming four-day trip to Portugal, according to Vatican Radio. But, he pointed out, Benedict XVI will not be the first Pope to visit the Marian shrine.

Two other Pontiffs have been to Fatima. In 1967, the sanctuary hosted Paul VI, and John Paul II visited in 1982, 1991 and 2000, at which time the visionaries Jacinta and Francesco were beatified.

The Portuguese shrine is not unfamiliar to Pope Benedict, since as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger extensively studied the message of Fatima. Fr. Lombardi said on Tuesday that the Pope has been involved with history of the Marian sanctuary in a "very deep, personal way."

It was him, for example, who was called upon to give a theological perspective when the third secret of Fatima was made public in 2000.

The Vatican spokesman said that the Holy Father will also deliver an intense message during his Fatima visit. Upon his arrival at the sanctuary on May 12, he will remember John Paul II and the 29th anniversary of the assassination attempt that nearly took his life on May 13, 1981.

This visit marks the Holy Father's 15th Apostolic Journey abroad in his five years and is his first to Portugal as Pope.

During today's general audience, the Holy Father greeted the people of Portugal in their language, telling them that he will be there this coming weekend at the invitation of the president of the nation and the episcopal conference.

He said he was "happy to be able to visit the 'land of Holy Mary'" on the 10th anniversary of the beatification of the shepherd children.

According to Portuguese press reports, local police are planning for a cumulative total of 450,000 people at the celebrations in Lisbon, Fatima and Portugal during the four-day visit.

I see it in part as a case of “peasant cunning” that later evolved under Jesuit supervision into the more formalized school of thought known as “casuistry”

Jeepers, dear brother in Christ, how do you square "peasant cunning" with "Jesuitical casuistry?" The two are like oil and water.... They do not at all agree. I do not how they can be made to agree....

Can you give me any further insight into this incipient and apparently burgeoning conspiracy theory???

"LOL. I was too busy watching people on FR post idolatrous worship to the being they call “Mary”. Not to mention seeing people inside RC churches bowing to, kneeling to, praying in front of, lighting candles to, placing flowers on, idols of Mary."

You sure took a lot of words to admit that you don't know jack-squat.

"Why would I post doctrines of man and demon as my sources?"

Because it is just plain ignorant to claim to post what they are without ever having read them or knowing where to find them. Just plain dum-bass ignorant.

"By “Church” do you mean the Vatican? Or do you mean the Body of Christ?"

"C" all of the above.

“I’m curious, do you actually know what false witness even means?”

Yes.

“How EXACTLY do you “know” that God didn’t sent the Blessed Virgin Mary to Fatima?”

She’s dead. The resurrection didn’t happen yet. She wasn’t assumed into heaven. She doesn’t hold any special authority in heaven. Her appearance only increased the idolatry of Mary, something angels even fought to prevent over the dead body of Moses. She gave prophesies that weren’t prophesies. No one asked her if Christ came in the flesh. The Bible warns about things like this happening and to not believe them. When God wants to send a message He either comes Himself, or he sends an angel.

This Fatima business is exactly why it is so important to nip this Maryianity in the bud now. The years and years of doctrines of man and demon coming out of the Vatican concerning what they call Mary have made it so all Satan has to do is appear in the form of Mary and the Vaticanians are his to control.

“...that Satan sends UFOs out with messages.”

“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

As for UFOs, they are all over the Bible. Someone who doesn’t know the Bible would see these things and only be able to say that it is unidentified and it is flying. One prominent example is depicted in the Book of Ezekiel. The encounter is pretty much the whole book.

“It makes perfect sense to conclude this stems from a belief that Satan can create an apparition and God cannot.”

Not really. Both God and Satan can make what happened at Fatima. But God wouldn’t do it as He has not elevated Mary to such a thing. He would have came Himself or sent an angel. On the other hand, this ties in great with Satan’s Mystery Babylon and one world government plans. This “Mary” can be the prophet of the beast depicted in the Book of Revelation. All it has to do is tell Rome to tell its followers to take the mark of her child the antichrist. The Vatican will believe this is Mary and Christ when it won’t be.

“Oh yeah, once again, do you think Catholics should be allowed on FR? Are you afraid to answer this question or do you just not understand it?”

I’ve answered this question several times on this thread already. If you are that concerned with the answer I am sure you have seen one of those posts.

This is not true and a comprehensive reading of the OT will affirm it. God does not work thru UFOs

Not really.

I do suspect some Jesuits have been skillful, however,
in using peasant cunning to the Jesuit’s own ends in spite of peasant cleverness.

“Just wow. How can that be?”

Because Christ is the Head of the Body of Christ. There is no higher part. Sorry, but Mary doesn’t have any role in the Body of Christ other than to be a part of it like all the rest of us Christians.

Just wow. How can you not understand this?

A better question would be why do you so badly want Mary to be given this role? What is wrong with Christ being the head that you need to make Mary the head of the head? What is it about Mary that has you in such enthrallment that she must be the center of attention in so many matters that have nothing to do with her?

Isn’t it enough that she gave birth to Jesus’ human body? It was certainly enough for her and for God to say she was blessed among women for having that role. But it’s over now. Jesus grew up to be a man and He left His mother, He even died on the cross and was resurrected into a new body and is now seated at the right hand of the Father. He has all the power and the glory of the Father and he is our intessessor and our savior. Why, when we have all that in Christ, is there this need in you to put Mary somewhere in that equation?

The Message version seems one of the clearest . . . talks of a ‘wheel within a wheel, like a gyroscope.’

It seems to be a craft of some sort . . . it is mostly unknown . . . it flies.

Based on those factors alone it could be called a UFO.

Some folks have conjectured that the “eyes” were portholes, windows or lenses.

Personally, I don’t think GOD NEEDS to use UFO’s.

I don’t have enough perspective nor observations nor enough thousands of years of age to say emphatically whether He ever chooses to use them, or not.

Wouldn’t wreck my theology to discover that He did/does.

I do NOT believe that any of those written about and studied in our era are craft piloted by HIS angels vs the enemy’s angels. I believe they are piloted by the enemy’s fallen angels.

I do believe that God has a LOT of secrets up His bigger sleeves with which He will be surprising the enemy in coming months and years.

There are other Scripture passages which many take to hint of UFO’s. I think they are dubious to a huge stretch. Some are more plausible than others. Some consider the pillar of fire by night and cloud by day leading the Israelites to have been UFO type phenomena. I don’t.

“Just wow. How can that be?”

Because Christ is the Head of the Body of Christ. There is no higher part.

And Mary is not higher than the head of the Church, and no one said she was. (Well maybe some weird heretics somewhere, but formal Cathlolic teaching does not say Mary is higher than Jesus.

Consequently, my saying that she is the Mother of the Body of Christ is NOT saying that she is 'higher' that Jesus. That is YOUR construction. That is not what the Church teaches.

Some cannot imagine that the Incarnation means that Mary was the mother of her Lord. This really suggests a lack of historical knowledge because in much of Europe when the king died a son was heir and the king's widow was the dowager queen, with honor, but without authority. So Queen Mary was Mother of her sovereign, Elizabeth II.

Similarly to say Mary is the Mother of God, does not in any way necessarily imply that she is somehow higher than Jesus.

So all these charges of blasphemy and what not not only lead to artificial distinctions between the body of Jesus and the body of Christ and conceal a lack of information about how the whole king thing usually works out.

And for our pains, we get called names. Just fabulous.

“Do you think that Catholics should not be allowed to post on FR?”

LOL ok. I will humor you and answer this again.

I would like all those in error and all those deceived and all those in idolatry and all those who love blasphemy to repent of it and to turn to Christ. At the very least I pray that they will not spread any of these things further.

As what, a paving block?

OBVIOUSLY that's ANOTHER example of the magnificent Vatican fostered, beatitude saturated, fruits of the Spirit filled, wrapped-in-12-layers-of-the-softest-white-hankies

BLESSING EXAMPLE

of Roman Catholic love and affection--at least of compassion, from the sacred immaculate heart of Mary.

Very impressive.

No doubt those 5 words alone should result in 5 less months spent in purgatory!

Way to go! What a spiritually mature HOME RUN!

Would love for you to elaborate on that on a UFO thread or a thread of it’s own.

I’m skeptical that such would PROVE anything from this distance but I’d be happy to give your input a fair hearing.
