I only saw the sermon (excellent) and the Canon. Not really having seen the old Mass much, the offering to Christ I didn’t mind so much, but not being able to hear the words, regardless of the language, was jarring. Maybe it was just the broadcast? Some of the other elements, i.e., torch bearers, at many high Masses are part of the ceremony, so it was relatively familiar.

I think they mean extrodinary as beautiful, special, and set apart. As opposed to the modernist mass.

There are very few priests that even know how to say the Mass in Latin. They never learned...and have a minuscule knowledge of the language.

One of the commentators noted that it has been almost 50 years since Mass was said at that High Altar.
May there be many, many more.

Those long silences are just perfect for . . . (gasp!) . . . prayer. The actual prayers found in the missal, private devotions, or even spontaneous (though silent) prayer. In my opinion, that’s something the “OF” doesn’t appear to permit.

I have been told that a priest (or priests) frequently says the Traditional Latin Mass at the National Shrine's Crypt altar or the Lourdes Chapel, but these are informal, not-published-in-the-bulletin Masses.
I would appreciate any information anyone could tell me about how/when to attend one of these Masses -- or how to contact someone who does know the times (either a priest who says the Mass or a layperson who attends).
If you do not want to post on the thread, please Freepmail me.
Thanks in advance.
