*8I find Salvation to be very courteous and kind. If she is too busy to respond to me, I don’t take it personally. It’s not a personal affront.**

LOL! When I volunteer so much at my church that I may as well be a paid employee!

Sometimes I don’t get to threads until later at night. And then I am going to post the usual apologetics threads and the next day’s Mass threads.

I’m not trying to be discourteious, I’ve merely filled in the day with what is important to me. Volunteering at my Church, Adoration, Daily Mass, typing and organizing our Ministry Booklet to match our website, distributing Welcome brochures each week, facilitating the formation of faith sharing groups, leading a scripture study, cooking for our Adult Faith Formation 101..............does anyone have any other questions. ROTFLOL!

It’s also one of the reasons I have to give up posting on a Daily TV commentary thread. It is called priorities. And in my book, God and my church come first, then family, then my country, then a job — but I’m now retired, and then other things.

Nothing wrong with that as far as I can see.

PS. you are correct about the Catholic threads being posted for Catholics and those who are seeking the truth. You would be surprised how many Protestants are on my ping list!

I forgot one thing. Have you ever done a monthly schedule for a ministry? Takes some time, right? Well, I do that each month too.

I found the article you probably got most of your information from...including the bible translations:

http://www.outreachjudaism.org/virgin.html#1

I would have to say most of those “translations” are not well received by the evangelical, conservative Christian community.

I will leave you with the words of Isaiah and Zechariah:

Isaiah 53:1  Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
2  For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
3  He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
4  Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
5  But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
6  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
7  He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
8  He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
9  And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
10  Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
11  He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
12  Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Zechariah 12:10  And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Yes, I know most of those arent widely accepted by christians...thats okay. I trust the hebrew versions because they are not trying to shoe-horn a meaningless virgin birth. Remember a virgin birth was of no value to the context of the prophecy in the time of Isaiah.

Both Isaiah 53 and Zechariah 12 have nothing to do with Jesus either. Rabbi Singer and others address those as well. Outreach Judaism has articles and these free tapes to listen to online. If you are a real truth seeker, give them a listen! nice chatting with you.

I can only speak for myself. On Catholic topics, I attempt to faithfully represent the entire teaching of the Catholic Church as best I can. If I make a mistake and represent it inaccurately, I ask to be corrected. That is because the Catholic teaching -- dogmatic or not -- is not given for further personal interpretation, nor do I indend to fashion my own religion out of Catholicism, and if I did I do not imagine anyone would be interested.

I post, on occasion, on other topics beside Catholicism and get as individualistically personal as I wish. On occasion, I offer my personal opinion about Catholic matters, but if I do, I delineate it accordingly, as my personal opinion.

However, I cannot say that my posts on Catholicism are intended exclusively for people who are sympathetically inclined toward the Catholic Church. They are intended quite often for address one error or another that persists among the non-Catholics.

What they intend is to prove the superiotrity of Catholic theology. As such they are intended for the reader, whom I don't know. Not so much for the poster, because quite often the post I am responding to is structured to lead the reader away from the point I need to make. If I don't comment on something that is usually because I don't see the relevance of it to the topic, or it is something that I broadly agree on.

I try to answer every substantive post addressed to me, at least briefly. Since I usually have time for one or two in-depth posts a day, that is the best I can do.

Thank you for your candid response.

In your attempts to prove the superiority of Catholic theology, good luck, I think you’ll need it.

And thank you for your diligence and discipline in posting.

Easiest thing in the world. Anyone who reads the Holy Scripture attentively will become Catholic or perhaps Orthodox.

Have a wonderful day!

Thank you, you too.

Catholics are the bedrock of Christians: the first, the most in tune with Christ’s wishes as recorded in Scripture, the most staunch in support of marriage, life, and grace, the ones who believe most in “signs” like those Christ performed, the ones who have studied Christ’s life and words for over 2 thousand years, the ones who were the originals and are still here today, the ones who will be there unto the very end. His Church!

Except myself, and multitudes of others, who have been there, done that, and actually met Jesus since leaving the Catholic Church.

Oh, and we actually read and understand our Bibles now that we have a realtionship with God.

If you were baptized a Catholic you are still a Catholic. Did you go through a hearing in front of a panel after filling out lots of paperwork? If not, you are still a Catholic, just not an active one at this time.

The Bible condemns Protestant heresies and supposts the Catholic teaching. Read again — for example, on the topic of the Eucharist.

That many people imagine a relationship with God outside of the Church is not surprising. Many are called, few are chosen. Protestantism is a manifestation of man’s prideful inclinations. It works, for a while, because most communities of faith still live by the reflected light of the Catholic Church. But they comprehend it not, and drift farther, and the communities that exist splinter and die. “The wolf catcheth, and scattereth the sheep”.

—If you were baptized a Catholic you are still a Catholic.—

You mean that if I was sprinkled as a child in an event of which I had no cognizance, I cannot leave the destiny/identity to which others committed me, without my knowledge, without their permission?

Your statement is nonsensical and unbiblical (out of politeness I am refraining from using more pertinent and descriptive adjectives), but, apparently, in your rabid devotion to what you have been told/taught by others you would deny others the right to self-identify their faith, or lack of it.

Even God does not arrogate to Himself such power, for He has respect for the individuals He created.

—The Bible condemns Protestant heresies and supposts the Catholic teaching.—

Obviously, you have the gall to promote Catholic dogma as Biblical. Sometimes I wonder how Catholics who know God and read their Bible can actually stay in Roman Catholicism.

Open your eyes...and your heart:

The Roman Catholic Church claims to have started in Matthew 16:18 when Christ supposedly appointed Peter as the first Pope. However, the honest and objective student of the Scriptures and history soon discovers that the foundation of the Roman church is none other than the pagan mystery religion of ancient Babylon.

While enduring the early persecutions of the Roman government (65-300 A.D.), most of professing Christianity went through a gradual departure from New Testament doctrine concerning church government, worship and practice. Local churches ceased to be autonomous by giving way to the control of “bishops” ruling over hierarchies. The simple form of worship from the heart was replaced with the rituals and splendor of paganism. Ministers became “priests,” and pagans became “Christians” by simply being sprinkled with water. This tolerance of an unregenerate membership only made things worse. SPRINKLED PAGANISM is about the best definition for Roman Catholicism.

The Roman Emperor Constantine established himself as the head of the church around 313 A.D., which made this new “Christianity” the official religion of the Roman Empire. The first actual Pope in Rome was probably Leo I (440-461 A.D.), although some claim that Gregory I was the first (590-604 A.D.). This ungodly system eventually ushered in the darkest period of history known to man, properly known as the “Dark Ages” (500-1500 A.D.). Through popes, bishops, and priests, Satan ruled Europe, and Biblical Christianity became illegal.

Throughout all of this, however, there remained individual groups of true Christians, such as the Waldensens and the Anabaptists who would not conform to the Roman system.

http://www.av1611.org/jmelton/Catholic.html

The Roman Church says it never changes; yet, it has done nothing else but invent new doctrines which are contrary to the Bible, and has practiced rites and ceremonies taken bodily from paganism. Some scholar has found that 75% of the rites and ceremonies of the Roman Church are of pagan origin.

Note:— Cardinal Newman, in his book, “The Development of the Christian Religion,” admits that ... “Temples, incense, oil lamps, votive offerings, holy water, holidays and season of devotions, processions, blessing of fields, sacerdotal vestments, the tonsure (of priests and monks and nuns), images ... are all of pagan origin...” (Page 359).

HERESIES are those doctrines and practices which are contrary to the Bible. They are also called “human traditions” or “doctrines of men”. Both Peter and Paul predicted and warned that in the later times “false teachers” would rise within the Church and bring in “damnable heresies” and “doctrines of devils”. (Read 2nd Peter 2:1-3, and 1st Timothy 3:2-5). Jesus rebuked the Pharisees, for they transgressed the commandments of God by keeping their traditions. “in vain,” He said, “they worship me by keeping for doctrines the commandments of men” (Matthew 15:3,9).

The real heretics therefore, are the Roman Catholics and the true orthodox are the Evangelical Christians.

BRETHREN! The Word of God commands us to get out of Babylon, saying: “Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” (Revelation 18:4). All true Christians will remain faithful to the religion of Christ as taught in the Bible, and heed the warning of the Apostle Paul, who said: “But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:8).
