I know. I'm familiar with your church's services. My wife was RC and we attended services at her church for awhile. It struck me as odd the first time that I was the only one bringing a Bible.
The manner in which Scripture was read was so perfunctory it seemed to me most in attendence were just going through the motions without serious thought about the words. My wife was shocked when she went to her first Baptist service. Everyone brought their own Bibles. We opened and read from them and when the Pastor was going through his message everyone had them open.
We have the Word. He is present on the altar: Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
Oh, right. I forgot to say that ALL masses everywhere demand that scripture be read in the same dull way as at your wife's church, by that particular lector. /sarcasm
Does your Baptist church have any arrangement that insures that the ENTIRE BIBLE will be read in regular services over a defined length of time? Or does the pastor just decide from week-to-week what portions to read?
