Wyclif was never even arrested.

Wycliffe was in poor health and died before he could be arrested. Prior to that, he was under the protection of the King and the English Nobility. The Pope was basically Persona Non Grata in England at the time because of his alliance with France which was then England’s mortal enemy.
So basically the Church didn’t have the power to arrest him. They were biding their time.
Later they were able to exhume his remains and burn them however.
Hus was burned at the stake and later his bones were exhumed and they were also burned again....Nice, Huh?

I'd check out my history before posting such things. The Archbishop of Canterbury himself led the synod enquiry into Wyclif's writings. Remember that French translations (the then language of the English court) were widely available at the time, and Wyclif was involved in official Church translations into then contemporary English. Wyclif angered the hierarchy by going after the Eucharist and the Mass. The Chancellor of Oxford spoke against him. The English hierarchy was very upset with him. This was in 1381 and was the final straw. He was brought to the Synod the next year, but was not arrested, nor persecuted.

Sounds kind of spiteful to me.

I just don't see the point for someone to go to that level to make a point.
