Here's one thing that jumped out at me: a teen says a priest forced him to have sex at gunpoint, twice, a relatively short time ago (within the statute of limitations), and he never told anyone? Apparently went back to the priest repeatedly? Never called the cops? never brought criminal charges? And still is not charging the priest?
But now that the Archbishop is in the news, he's going to sue the Archbishop?
Can someone explain that part?
On the issue of the priest being "alter Cristus" --- that applies in important ways to all of us, since by Baptism we can say with St. Paul " I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." (Galatians 2:20) And again, "for we are members of His body." (Ephesians 5:30)
When a priest is minister of a Sacrament, he does it not with his own power, but by the power of Christ --- just as St. Peter healed people in the book of Acts, not by "Peter's power," but by Christ's power.
Any Catholic -- any Christian--- knows that.
.....”he never told anyone”....
Well if you are aware of anyone who has been assulted or raped under threat it is quite common NOT to tell... Let alone a Priest hiding behind the cloak of a religious leader who holds power in the church. Additionally kids are taught homosexual behavior is ok in our schools, so can you imagine the confusion a kid would be in. Come on it’s really not hard to understand at all.
But that means we can all then offer the elements if we have Christ within us...it is not reserved for appointed Priests alone or that in them doing so elevates them above the partaker or any other Christian.
The Bible also says we have the mind of Christ.
