A similar story here -- started with Netcom dialup in 1992. They were acquired by Mindspring and then Earthlink. At long last, I turned off the trusty but crusty US Robotics modem in January 2010 and went with T-W's Roadrunner. Though way late in the game, getting high speed access was the push I needed to finally sign up here on FR.
And to keep it topical, with the old dialup, I'd probably still be downloading the MPEG audio file that led to this whole discussion. :-(
People would always complain about large photographs being posted here (five years ago). Got my first computer in ‘92 too.
I would love a list of good Southern gospel groups to buy (their music!)
I love the Kingsmen. Who are some others great ones in the same genre?
Yes...the Kingsmen known as ``The Ton of Fun''. A good starting point for Southern Gospel is the venerable Singing News. That gives you a good idea of the artists along with the Top 80 charts and news about the artists. Plus there's a link to listen to WBOZ, a middle Tennessee station playing gospel 24/7.
Hope this helps!
That is King Vanity’s gig.
I am in the loop as his careprovider/mom/
So I dont always pay attention to the performers, I just share unless he wants to communicate GO SEE THEM! BY DVD!
He is also a huge Country Twang Old time Music lover
Me I like Celtic.
However He has wanted for Years/decades even to
see the Gaither Vocal Band and Mark Lowry (the clown)
of the group.
The first time ever they came up to the PNW
and KV was escorted down to center front row
seating (with all the other WC folks).
I cried. The Holy Spirit just moved me when they
sang. And crying is something I rarely do.
(its only those profound times that the Holy Spirit
is undeniably present like a brick in the head)
Cried with shiverin’ lip and all.
I like a different type of music u tube has my newest choker upper Artist Tajci (she is Croatian) title Eli Eli from the I Thirst dvd.
Also the singing of the Divine Mercy ....gulp.
So you see we have polar tastes.
Thats what ya get when you mix generations of Pentacostal/Roman/Orthodox Catholic/Southern Baptist (joke between KV and I)
Did Martin find his answer yet?
We want to know now too so we can go listen.
I went and fetched the blackberry.
what’s up with your feet?
Up and running on them for two days.
Tired and sore.
Lifelong (tolerable) back nerve pain shoot right out the bottom of the heel and very painful to walk on when I have been up an running on them for long shifts.
Physical work.
Nothing like a gout attack though, thank God.
A good nights rest works well enough.
This won’t help the nerve pain but soaking the feet in Epsom salt with very warm water before bed may help.
I know my chiropractor would have you fit as a fiddle in no time - that nerve pain would be gone.
Have a good nights rest.
Thanks.
I love epsom salt baths (when I have quiet/self time).
However doing just the feet would really help so when I do need to jump up it doesnt take those first few hobble steps to adapt to the pain level.
Good tip. Thanks.
you’re welcome. I’ve had way too many years of pain - so I understand a bit. Hope it helps somewhat.
Application for I phone called shazam.
Hold the phone up to a speaker and it will come back and tell you the song and who sang it.
application called shazam for your i phone.
Amazingly it works.
Us too.
King Vanity 31yrs Severe Cerebral Palsy spastic/ballistic Quadroplegic and all the complications/surges/med. issues and me the Mom/Careprovider back injuries.
And reciever of some of those ballistic movements...birdies tweeting in the head mode.
What we learned decades ago is to offer all that Suffering Up to God for the Mercy for the Whole World intentions.
Not saying that directed at you personally but all as it does help.
Even the same repetitiuos prayer on the excrutiating days.
Thanks for the tip about Shazam. I put it on my BlackBerry and will enjoy using it. Unfortunately though, it would not identify this song
Well, after much searching, I FINALLY found the name of the group/album:
THE CATHEDRALS: Voices in Praise: A Capella
Track 3 of 10.
Oh, yeah, they were previously known as The Polyesters.
That’s awesome. Glad you finally found them (Pretty sure we had their 8 tracks at one point :) )
By the way, a few nights ago, I happened across a television special (one in the Gaither Homecoming series) with the late Vestal Goodman singing Rock of Ages as only she can. (Please ping as you think appropriate).
Thanks for remembering this thread...you’re a good guy.
To ALL...listen to the song at Grooveshark...
