When John Paul’s motorcade passed my brother and his friend, He said they felt the Holy Spirit, Which was remarkable because His friend was agnostic. This was N.Y. 1979. I remmeber when my mother, grandmother and I watched it on TV. Both are in heaven now. What memories, every free broadcast channel had live coverage for the whole trip. It was still the Cold war going on yet so much hope from this young Pope. I believe he was 58 years at the time. What stamina!

What I remember is that in the last few years of his life, JPII was quite ill. But he bore his infirmity with quiet grace and determination. It served as a reminder that life is a gift bestowed from God, and to cherish and honor that gift, even when things become difficult.
