Christ was crucified on what would be wednesday, and arose on what we would call saturday evening ... Nothing about the crucifixion and ressurection happened on a sunday.

??? Jews mark the end of a day and the start of the next one at sundown. Saturday evening after sundown is Sunday.

Jews mark the end of a day and the start of the next one at sundown. Saturday evening after sundown is Sunday.

The problem is (as far as you folks see it) the scriptures all refer to Sabbath morning:

[Matthew 28:1] And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre,

[Mark 16:2] and early in the morning of the first of the sabbaths, they come unto the sepulchre, at the rising of the sun

[Luke 24:1] And on the first of the sabbaths, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bearing the spices they made ready, and certain others with them,

[John 20:1] And on the first of the sabbaths, Mary the Magdalene doth come early (there being yet darkness) to the tomb, and she seeth the stone having been taken away out of the tomb,

These passages are all from "Young's Literal Translation" and as you can see....."The First day of the Week" is non-existent in these scriptures. The reason is, because the Greek doesn't say that......

Mr. Young was not heavily influenced by his Protestant upbringing when he compiled his work. He truly attempted to translate "Literally" and that's one reason his Bible is difficult to read.

This is why I wrote this in post #7: It is now Wednesday night (our time) the 15th of Nisan A.D.30 and He is spending his first night in the tomb. He will resurrect 72 hours after entering the "Heart of the Earth" about 15 hours earlier. This would put His resurrection on "The First of the Sabbaths" (as scripture confirms) early in the morning of the 17th [Matthew 28:1][Mark 16:2][Luke 24:1][John 20:1].....the First weekly Sabbath (of seven) between Passover and Pentecost [Leviticus 23:15-16]. He had spent His first Day in "The Heart of The Earth" on the Passover, Nisan 14. His first night would be the 15th (Wednesday)...the second day Thursday the 15th and the second night, Thursday the 16th. His third and final day would be Friday the 16th and His final night would be the Sabbath of the 17th. He arises before dawn after spending 72 hours in "The Heart of The Earth".

To all you folks in "Rio Linda"....that means....He arose Saturday morning....before dawn!

Yes, it would be a sunday to a Jew, but still Saturday to a Roman!

That is the essence of this ancient error. - The writings in the gospels were at first to mainly Jews, so the terms used were in the cultural vernacular of the Jew.

It was the “first of the sabbaths,” a clear plural, that was misunderstood by the English translators that were not knowledgeable on many colloquial expressions that were in the gospels. They thus failed to understand that what was being addressed was Pentecost specifically, and not just a day of the week.

The Jews today do exactly what you wrote. I worked in Jewish area. On Saturday night you could do business with them not during daylight.
