Would this be news if this were about a senior Catholic lay official? I am no fan of the LDS, but please...
Catholics can drink. LDS aren’t supposed to.
If my friend the Catholic priest was hot tubbing and drinking with 15 year old boys, I would think it would be news.
Oh wait a minute it is news. Happens all the time. LOL
Yes. And four years earlier, I might add. Were this not in Utah, that is.
Garn was a majority leader in the Utah legislature. So if a "senior Catholic lay official" was also a majority leader in the state legislature, yes, ya better believe it would have been news at the time it happened.
As it is, even the media the Mormon church doesn't control is imbedded with Mormons. They spiked the DUI story, just like they spiked all the other earlier stories about Garn in 2002!
If you read the readers' comments to these articles in both the SL Trib & Deseret News, you'll now see Democrat readers calling the "family values" crowd "hypocrites" -- not only for Garn's actions but for the extensive news media cover-up.
Even this article on the DUI wasn't broken by the Trib or Des News -- the local Fox affiliate broke the story. (4 years late)
