As Reaganaut mentioned, I am not Christian, but Noachide...Jewish law is about worshiping G-d for the most part...the Messianic prophecies are mainly about bringing the whole world, especially Gentiles, BACK to Torah observance...while Jesus Christianity essentially says that the Torah is “yesterday’s news” and you have permission to ignore it...magritte
Nice try ;^)
Certainly. Perhaps the best place to go is the Neal A. Maxwell Institute, especially the Journal of the Book of Mormon and Other Restoration Scripture.
Actually, I find that gospel Latter-day Saints teach and believe in harmony with the one that Jesus and His Apostles taught in the New Testament.
Actually, you are very mistaken. The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, while the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. The Torah is to be studied and observed by Christians, and is in large part “tomorrow’s news”.
In other words, you didn’t read the part of the new testament that Elsie shared in post 181?
That’s why I guess I have a hard time believing in people who are like Glenn Beck and Mitt Romney ... supposedly intelligent people ....
Neither the Society nor any other institution of equal prestige has ever used the Book of Mormon in locating archaeological sites. Although many Mormon sources claim that the Book of Mormon has been substantiated by archaeological findings, this claim has not been verified scientifically.
Who made you the arbiter of distinguishing motives for posters? You cast judgement because you don’t like the subject material?
Skip over them if you don’t like the subject material, but your posting history indicates you will do otherwise.
Are you mormon?
But since the LDS believe that the atoning for sin occured in the Garden of Gesthemane when Jesus supposedly LITERALLY sweated blood, why talk about his broken body?
What an amazing witness he would be if Glenn became a Christian!
Saundra, if you are a Christian, the Holy Spirit of God is with you ALWAYS and will never leave you. No conditions.
And I personally thank God for that with all my heart because I can never keep all His commandments, no matter how hard I try.
In ACTS 11:13, Jesus says, "If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!" Notice there are no conditions, you just ASK!
In John 14:16, Jesus gives us another promise: "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever "
FOREVER! Not "until you break a commandment". God knows we are not capable of that - thats' why we're all in this mess and need God to rescue us.
The issue is this....from your "challenge"..Mormons frequently refer people investigating their religion to a promise in the Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:4:
This is encouraging seekers to accept the words from a fictional character from a book of fiction that was inspired by Satan.
There is no "God" involved in this challenge, unless it's the fictional mormon god who is a created being who "worked his way" to fictional godhood.
All the clever word play in the world doesn't change that.
EJO: "Please do share this impressive scholarship..."
Well that's easy - countless LDS scholars support the BOM.
Another example of fallicies of logic. 'The BOM says it's true, so if it's true, what it says must be true, and it says it's true. So it's true. Besides, I prayed about it.
During a pre-calc midterm, I prayed that my answer to working a quadratic equation was true, but the professor must have been an apostate!
((SNORT!))
Elsie: (posts many, many paragraphs of LDS "scripture" describing the first time the demons appeared to JS)
I feel older already
DID GOD REALLY SAY...?
