Continuation of thread... Ok, so I have been waking up in a cold sweat the last several months VERY concerned about this country. In the past when I have had problems and concerns I find it encouraging to share and pray with others. This is what I propose... a 14 day prayer. We all agree to pray for this country every morning for 14 straight days starting tomorrow AM. Do this before getting out of bed or speaking to anyone. Who's in?
God is bigger than any GOVERNMENT!

2 Chronicles 7:14 (New International Version)
14 if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
This morning before I put my feet on the ground I prayed that God will protect our country and the whole world.
Then later I prayed some more, during my regular prayer time.
Here's an example of what we need to see done in this country. And if we saw this, then God would answer our prayers for this country.
Whereas the Senate of the United States, devoutly recognizing the supreme authority and just government of Almighty God in all the affairs of men and of nations, has by a resolution requested the President to designate and set apart a day for national prayer and humiliation; and
Whereas it is the duty of nations as well as of men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon, and to recognize the sublime truth, announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord;
And, insomuch as we know that by His divine law nations, like individuals, are subjected to punishments and chastisements in this world, may we not justly fear that the awful calamity of civil war which now desolates the land may be but a punishment inflicted upon us for our presumptuous sins, to the needful end of our national reformation as a whole people? We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of Heaven; we have been preserved these many years in peace and prosperity; we have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God. We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us, and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us.
It behooves us, then, to humble ourselves before the offended Power. to confess our national sins, and to pray for clemency and forgiveness.
Now, therefore, in compliance with the request, and fully concurring in the views of the Senate, I do by this my proclamation designate and set apart Thursday, the 30th day of April, 1863, as a day of national humiliation, fasting, and prayer. And I do hereby request all the people to abstain on that day from their ordinary secular pursuits, and to unite at their several places of public worship and their respective homes in keeping the day holy to the Lord and devoted to the humble discharge of the religious duties proper to that solemn occasion.
All this being done in sincerity and truth, let us then rest humbly in the hope authorized by the divine teachings that the united cry of the nation will be heard on high and answered with blessings no less than the pardon of our national sins and the restoration of our now divided and suffering country to its former happy condition of unity and peace. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the city of Washington, this 30th day of March, A. D. 1863, and of the Independence of the United States the eighty-seventh.

Interesting... I wrote a song about 5 years ago based on this Psalm right after I was diagnosed with a Neurological disorder.
Times were hard but God put this Psalm on my heart... I think I have that song on MP3.
The Holy Spirit is working powerfully through the true believers isn’t He?
Can you put the mp3 link on FR?
I can email the song to you if you like.
Count me in. I pray for the USA every day anyway, but I would love to get a ping from you.
I’m in...
Beautiful!
The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9
When my brother-in-law was a missionary in Mali, West Africa, he was involved in a traffic accident. A man had wandered into the road in front of Chucks motorcycle. The cycle struck the man and sent Chuck and the bike sliding along the ground for more than 200 feet. Shortly after Chuck regained consciousness in the hospital, his doctor told him he had been really lucky. Chuck smiled and replied, God is good.
Later he thought about the days events. The man who was struck hadnt received any permanent injuries, and Chuck would also recover from his injuries. But what if one of them had been killed? He thought, God would be no less good.
When we experience tragedy, we may wonder about Gods goodness. Is God always good? Yes, He is. He doesnt promise that bad things will never happen to us, but He does promise to be our refuge and strength (Ps. 46:1). He doesnt promise that we will never walk through heart-wrenching circumstances, but He promises that we wont be alone (23:4).
God is goodno matter what suffering we are experiencing. Even when we dont understand, we can say with Habakkuk, Yet will I rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation (3:18). Cindy Hess Kasper
I posted on the old thread before I made it here, so I’ll post here too. I prayed this morning, and have felt peace and comfort all day. Also, a physical problem that had been bothering me, resolved itself today. Isn’t that something?! Thank you for getting us all on the same page! I’ll be sure to post tomorrow.
I posted this on the first thread. I am still reading it, and I have found it useful.
