What a great post, SZ...I will keep it and with your permission repost it when applicable.

This is the one that we should remember when discussing the mormon disdain for the Cross..

9 Andrew Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras, Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: ‘I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.’ He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he expired.

Ok, I laugh every time I see that (and my mother mentioned she likes it too), but it is still SO SO WRONG!

How very liberal of you. Social justice seekers are found here: www.democraticunderground.com

Thanks for the reminder. It makes my spirit weep.
Last year I met a pastor from Iran who's wife was murdered. “They” came into the house drug him, the wife and children into the street. “They” put a gun to the wife's head and demanded he renounce Christ. He said he could not. “They” put a bullet in her brain and made them leave her in the street until dark. This pastor now travels the world preaching about what happened. He gave a wonderful testimony of forgiveness and love he said he felt toward the man who murdered his wife. He said it was a struggle, but Jesus allowed him to forgive the murder. Then he said "I want you to meet my brother in Christ and my best friend, the man who murdered my wife." Honestly, I wept. Or I should say my Spirit wept with joy. (If that makes sense).

Back to the point, a bucket of water is not nor will it ever be persecution.

Thanks for posting that, SZ. It does clearly show what real persecution is and it is not a bucket of water.

You know, I am puzzled about something...why would a member of a church that has its teenagers baptized on behalf of the dead 20 times in rapid succession as a field trip, think a bucket of water was persecution?

Ya got me! I like water! I suppose on a warm summer day a bucket of water is just the thing to set you right.

I was hoping to get a ‘slip and slide’ for the yard this year for the neighbor kids. But buckets would work too.

I think about that pastor often and wonder if I would have such forgiveness.
I read about a mom who's child was murdered and when at the trial she could talk, she said “I wanted to hate you but I can not, I forgive you”. She went on to visit this person in prison and actually was instrumental in leading him to Christ.

God does amazing things. It took me several years (longer than it should have) for me to forgive some people who had hurt me greatly.

But when God finally gave me the heart to forgive them, the burden lifted was amazing.
