YOPIOS stands for "your own personal interpretation of scripture" and is usually used when one is defending their OWN personal interpretation of scripture.

We believe all but 2 and 5.

I used to be LDS. No you don’t. The LDS may use the same words but do not mean nearly the same things.

Also 2 and 5 are biggies and both affect how people view the person, work and Nature of Jesus Christ which is the saving matter.

It simply brings into light that Anti-Mormons (like a few on here) aren’t behaving in a Christ-like manner at all.

Says who? The LDS?

OY!

I have learned that trolls do not realize that childishly irritating someone else into refusing to bother to respond is not the same as winning a argument. Proverbs 14:6 puts it this way (I like the NIV translation here): “The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.” Proverbs 22:24 is, “The proud and arrogant man—”Mocker” is his name; he behaves with overweening pride.” Religion trolls are Mockers.

Christ like. Jesus was not a wimp. Remember the driving out of the temple the money changers.........Jesus was tender when it was time to be tender and He was angry when it was time to be angry.

It’s NOT simple logic and by your statements you are arguing that there is ONLY one church that teaches the truth, the LDS (yours).

I pray that you open your eyes and let Christ change your heart. Put your faith in Him, not in the LDS church to save you.

Been there, done that, life is sweeter outside the chains of the LDS. And I don’t expect you to debate LDS theology, there is no real defense of LDS doctrine.

Been there, done that, too.

Let me get this straight, are you saying that everything the Catholic church teaches is the truth?

If the Church doesn’t teach the Truth, Christ is a liar.

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:12-13

“But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.” 1Tim 3:15

Here Christ says, and Paul reaffirms, that the Church will always teach the TRUTH.

The Protestant definition are not even “enforced” by the Catholic Church itself, indeed as was noted it is from an older Catechism so may no longer be taught.

What a "cop-out" for people to say unless someone belongs to their particular religion, they cannot have or know truth. How limited that makes the Holy Spirit of God. What is the Catholic or Mormon religions but what some people interpret Scripture to say. Some even place the Holy Bible in the same esteem as their writings or traditions and claim God gave it to them! Even in spite of blatant contradictions.

I'll stick with what Jesus said when he told his followers that he would send them the Holy Spirit and that he would lead them to all truth. The Bible is a Christians sole source of truth and authority and it is God himself who inspired the writers and who has preserved it for us until this very day. He certainly didn't need men to do it, but he chose that method for a reason, and I know it wasn't so they could twist it in any old way to say what they wanted. Scripture is "self-interpreting" - meaning words in context mean what they say - and without the indwelling Holy Spirit, they will not make sense. It is God that illuminates his word to us and he doesn't need some "special" people to tell us what that is.

“If that’s the worst they can complain about, they come across as a bunch of cry babies. “

What on earth? This takes the cake. Now I know what I am dealing with. A Sister Missionary, serving and loving the people of Germany, gets a bucket of water thrown on her and you think it’s a small matter.

Actually, once she realized she was being persecuted for the sake of the Kingdom of God, for our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ, I’m sure she rejoiced in it.

But for you to make light of it is very telling, very telling indeed.

“What was the “sister” doing...pounding on the guy’s door? Claiming the guy was going to hell because he wouldn’t join the mormon church? “

You know better than that. She is volunteering 18 months of her life to love and serve in Germany. She is a hero to me. I love her very much and am grateful for her sacrifices. LDS Missionaries are always loving and kind. That’s what they do. They are representing the Savior in a very hostile world.

The tone of this thread has sunk to the bottom of the mire. Too bad.

I’ll ask you again, did she melt? Where is the persecution.

Do you not think I suffer the same type of treatment while I proselytize to Mormons is Utah. You are showing the silliness of your claim.

This sister is knocking on doors, interrupting the peace of people in their homes, and telling them they believe a lie. Water is a very small thing.

At least I do my proselyting in the public square. I’ve been spat upon, had things grabbed from my hand and thrown to the ground, I’ve been pushed and pulled, I’ve been yelled at and called names. Even these are not persecution. I guess your Mormon missionaries are wimpy enough to think water will somehow damage them.

I appreciate that you posted this article but I am saddened by some of the vicious comments. They obviously didn’t even read the article but started in with their same-old-same-old tedious negative comments. Some of them are really really ugly, though, and over the top. Let them rant, I guess. They hate us but don’t even know why. A dog returns to its vomit.

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I am not ashamed to be a member of The Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Tonight the Missionaries are coming for dinner and I will enjoy the fellowship and love of the Savior they bring. Yahoo!
