1Jn:4:1: Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

Joseph Smith is a false prophet, so is Brigham Young.

***Are Anti-Mormons Christians?***

Not necessarily.

But Christians are anti-mormon.

Very good point, Gamecock. AND....

On mormons demanding to be called Christian and assigning a "subset" name to Christians, such as "orthodox" or "mainstream".

Why strain at gnats and swallow camels?

Christians are Christians. Mormons are mormons.

When you start designating all the different subsets of mormons like the FLDS as mormons, THEN let's worry about what subset name mormons should arbitrarily assign to Christians as if it were their right to do so. At least the mormon splinter groups originated with Joseph Smith.

When the miniscule number of mormons in the world take it upon themselves to assign a designation to the many millions in the body of Christ, it is IMO, overreaching by a wide margin.

I don't think they are. They seem to lie about having love for Mormons. Greater love hath no men than those who have "my Jesus is better than yours" contests. lol.

Don’t forget their Gospel Principles Manual that comes right out and calls those who believe in the Trinity, ‘pagans’ and ‘so called Christians’ (Chapter 16).

Typical LDS though, they repeat the lies often enough that people believe them.

What amazed me about this article is the bile that surged throughout most of it. Heavens-to-mergatroid! I don’t recall any similar or even order of magnitude equivalent discussion from us. There may be a website out there that goes that extreme - probably a skeptic/atheist one - but my did they jump the shark. Their REAL hateful speech is OK, our PHANTOM hate speech is not.

According to the LDS the ‘apostasy’ occurred after the death of the original 12 apostles and was in full swing by the Council of Nicaea.

Only if Christ was a liar. I'll post this again hoping to get a response from some of our Mormon friends.

The basic premise of Mormonism is that the Church Christ founded somehow needed a restoration. Unfortunately, this cannot be true, unless Christ is a liar.

“And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Mat 6:18

Here Christ says his Church will not be destroyed.

“I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” John 16:12-13

“But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.” 1Tim 3:15

Here Christ says, and Paul reaffirms, that the Church will always teach the TRUTH.

"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Mat 28:18-20

Again, here Jesus assures us that He is always with us, to the very end.

So Christ says His Church will not be destroyed or fall away from him, that the Holy Spirit will guide the Church to always teach the Truth, and He will always be with us. Yet Mormons believe the Church almost immediately went apostasy.

The only reason for a ‘restoration’ is that Christ lied.

So how do Mormons reconcile these verses with the “apostasy” whenever it occurred?

I think it is best to leave it up to the Lord to judge who is a true follower of Christ.

Have you contacted the leaders in Salt Lake and informed them of this? Have you requested that the mormon church abstain from sending out 50,000 missionaries daily to inform Christians that the only way to salvation is through baptism and confirmation as members of the mormon church?

Don't you find it just a LITTLE hypocritical for one to say "Leave it to the Lord to judge" when the goal of mormonism is to convert every soul who is alive or HAS lived?

From Boyd K. Packer, “The Redemption of the Dead,” Ensign, Nov. 1975, 97

"Since baptism is essential there must be an urgent concern to carry the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people. That came as a commandment from Him.

His true servants will be out to convert all who will hear to the principles of the gospel and they will offer them that one baptism which He proclaimed as essential. The preaching of the gospel is evident to one degree or another in most Christian churches. Most, however, are content to enjoy whatever they can gain from membership in their church without any real effort to see that others hear about it.

The powerful missionary spirit and the vigorous missionary activity in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints becomes a very significant witness that the true gospel and that the authority are possessed here in the Church. We accept the responsibility to preach the gospel to every person on earth. And if the question is asked, “You mean you are out to convert the entire world?” the answer is, “Yes. We will try to reach every living soul.”

Some who measure that challenge quickly say, “Why, that’s impossible! It cannot be done!”

To that we simply say, “Perhaps, but we shall do it anyway.”

Against the insinuation that it cannot be done, we are willing to commit every resource that can be righteously accumulated to this work. Now, while our effort may seem modest when measured against the challenge, it is hard to ignore when measured against what is being accomplished, or even what is being attempted, elsewhere."

- - - - - -
They say that Matt 16 is referring to the modern LDS church only.

John 16, refers to the ‘restoration’ of the Church (which is the mormon church)

1Tim 3:15 - again is speaking of the ‘only true church’ (the mormon church)

Mat 28 they only focus on the ‘going forth’ for their missionary efforts.

The LDS believe that JOSEPH SMITH and the Book of Mormon was prophesied about in the OT, so they take these verses to mean that the CURRENT LDS church will not pass away.

It is a horrible twisting of scripture.

I thank God every day that He got me out of the LDS church and into Christ. And I agree with you that they make Christ a liar.

Spoken like a faithful Mormon who wants to be considered Christian without LDS doctrines being scrutinized.

I got some news for you, Christ has already determined who His followers are, those that follow the Bible.

LDS doctrine contradicts the Bible.
