SAINT MARY'S COLLEGE, dedicated originally to the Mother of Christ, should now formalize in words what it's long demonstrated in shameful deeds: the place should no longer call itself "Catholic."
Last year, with no apparent sense of irony, SMC paid defiantly unrepentant "Weather Underground" terrorist William Ayers to speak on "living our lives for peace and justice."
A brainwashed 2003 SMC alumnus then applauded the Ayers appearance in a Times guest column, claiming "the role of violence in the pursuit of political goals, the integration of radical agents into mainstream political operations, what constitutes a 'terrorist' "... " were merely "compelling issues" offering "room for debate and disagreement between reasonable people."
The college's Web site still proudly supplies links (now inactive) to that mindless column and to a Times editorial that also praised SMC's "broad mindedness" in hosting Ayers as though making over the horrific into the mundane were something to be celebrated. Genuine Catholic leaders condemn terrorist activity as diabolically "cruel fanaticism" (Pope Benedict XVI, speaking to Muslim officials in 2005).... [continued]

These morons need to remember that it cuts both ways. Not advocating, just pointing out. They had it sweet back in the '60's. Nobody stood up to them. That won't happen again.
This “social justice” and “peace” are not Biblical. I don’t care what school it is. Those schools claiming to be “religious” surley haven’t read the Bible. God uses wars all the time to show His will. Just open it and read the Old Testament. His nature is clearly seen through how He’d punish the Jews through war. His nature hasn’t changed ad never will. Now it is becoming more obvious how these “religious” schools are not Biblical or even Christian for that matter.
Makes sense. People nowadays still have that misguided view on ‘war’ as something that should be avoided at all costs - even if that meant self-destruction.
God in the Old Testament repeatedly used wars to make clear to His people that they had transgressed His Laws once again. The Hebrews were prone to fail in many respects. As soon as God had helped them out of a terrible situation, they tended to complain and began to long again for all earthly riches, including highly immoral pleasures. To the detriment of the few among them that walked steadily.
Don’t start me on the ‘60s peacenik movement. I might become sick.

I hear ya and you are absolutely right.
The stupid 60’s peace sign makes me ill. But you know, atleast the hippies didn’t HATE their country as Obama does. I refuse to have our kids walk around with that ridiculous “peace sign”. It’s too 60’s and ridiculous. It screams - “I am STUPID and IGNORANT.
What these ignoramouses are preaching is HUMANISM. How they’d like the world to be. As you stated, the Jews would be punished with wars. Sometimes God would have their enemies conquer them and other times they would be conquered. There will be NO PEACE, till He returns and takes His own away form this spiritual hell hole on earth.

But this past week, Saint Mary’s feted Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, daughter of Robert Kennedy and former Maryland lieutenant governor, calling her a “devout Catholic” despite her determined “pro-choice” politics, extending even to taxpayer funding of abortions, and her Newsweek contention last July that Catholicism should (in so many words) be governed by polling data.
The Saint Mary’s Web site relates that Townsend “led Maryland to become the first state in the nation to require high school students to perform community service to graduate.” So, rigid rules for graduation, but Catholicism should become a go-with-the-flow playground?
Yes,
PEER PRESSURE ad DISOBEDIENCE are as “old as the hills”. STUPID people and IGNORNAT people will find themselves out there and haughtily proclaim their ungodly messages.
Now godless, Harvard University once had as its mission "Let every Student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the maine end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternall life."
St. Mary’s has abandoned religion for politics.
Thank you. And you’re also very right. Your remark about the hippies not resentful against their own country is necessary. However you look at them, they did love the U.S.A., I could cite a whole list of writers and poets adored by them, and who sang the praise of that immeasurably vast and beautiful American landscape, its possibilities, its promises, and its founders.
But why did they not see that pacifism is the fastest way of throwing all that beauty away?
And another bull’s eye for you. Aaron’s is one of the most powerful stories in the Bible. Moses is said to have been suffering a speech impediment; and he collected the Commandments on the Horeb; whilst Aaron, the smooth talker, the pleaser, the pop Idol of his days, who had to relay Moses’ wisdom in ordinary speech, fell from grace and made the Golden Calf (= symbol for greed, prostitution, debauchery) possible.
There’s other material in there I find so meaningful. The prophet Daniel, and the Writing On The Wall at Belshazzar’s Feast (the Mene Tekel).
Why oh why is this stuff not at least ‘strongly recommended’ in schools anymore? Why do kids feel it a bit shameful to devote themselves to reading it?
I fear that violent computer games are robbing our societies from contemplating morality (to put it very succinctly). Porn and violence are the norm, and the Good Book has sadly become the exception amongst the young.
When an institution invites Bill Ayers to speak, and pays him money for it, their leadership has bought into the idea that bombing innocent people is good, as is premarital sex, and homosexual sex, poor electrical and chemical engineering, and finally murder.
The founders of St. Mary's would be aghast!
There are pockets of this extreme Left wing agenda here and there, amongst religious who claim to be Catholic, but are not. If my memory serves me, it’s all a holdover from the sixties.
“But why did they not see that pacifism is the fastest way of throwing all that beauty away?”
Either they were cowards or utopians?
I don’t understand it.
Yet Aaron repented and was forgiven. How many hippies outside of Hororwitz have come clean, no pun intended?
More like a holdover from the 1560s ~ didn’t their mothers ever tell them it was bad to murder people in their beds and stuff like that!
Aaron just came up the other day. We were discussing the “herd instinct” when it came to dressing. I used Aaron as an example of the “herd instinct”. I am personally sick and tired of this “tolerance” for everything that is WRONG and intolerance for everything that is RIGHT.

Yes ... we are on the same page. ;)

Schools, promote atheism and the very least agnosticism. Remember they need to keep “religion out of schools” so as to NOT “offend” anyone. Then they wonder why kids have no morality or any sense of morality. Our beliefs form the CORE of out behavior. Rob them of this core, and this is what you get - out of control kids, narcissistic, self absorbed, material driven, disrespectful - heck I'll let Him say it:
Rom.1:30
[30] Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
2Tim.3:2
[2] For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
1Tim. 1:9
[9] Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,

yes, in our entertainment driven society, pleasure driven and all that, VIOLENT games feed their heads because they have NO BIBLICAL CORE to stand on. All of the things and more you mention all stray from Biblical teachings. Most parents have no clue on what their kids are doing. They're too busy chasing the dollar. T.V., games and the internet are the new babysitters and new “morality” teachers.
We are currently attending a "Christian" school. Bible is okay but they don't practice what they teach. It's haphazard - it's more politically correct. We are leaving in June. We've been there six years. So the kids have Bible knowledge; otherwise they wouldn't know about Bible characters. I use Biblical people when ever possible to make points. The people THEN are NO DIFERENT than the people NOW. They didn't need laptops or cell phones to accomplish the same WRONG things we are doing TODAY. I will continue with their grade by grade texts and workbooks after we leave the school.
Absolutely RIGHT!
Now godless, Harvard University once had as its mission “Let every Student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the maine end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternall life.”
If they could, they'd sandblast that off the building where it was written. Most of our colleges and universities started out as seminaries. Amazing how things have done a 180.
Thanks. Yours is a most inspirational reply. Esp. when you state that in essence things were no different way back then.
Morality does not change over time.
Have to logoff, hope to see you back.
