He is not dead. Remember the Transfiguration, when Jesus appeared with Moses and Elijah -- of course long dead from our point of view, but alive as part of the Communion of Saints. You do believe in the Communion of Saints? (it's in the Apostle's Creed).

Do you assume the saints are dead? I would have to disagree. As Jesus said,

Matthew 22:32
"I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob... God is not the God of the dead, but of the living."

And again,

Luke 20:38
"For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him."
