The Scenario:
Ever have one of those days when youre feeling full of energy and vigor? I mean, youre feeling just obnoxiously happy? Well, this is one of those days.
Driving home from work, you switch on the radio to see whats happening, and you tune in to a local Protestant radio station just in time to hear a preacher speaking against various Catholic doctrines concerning Mary. The show is called Pastor Bobs Bible Hour. Pastor Bob proclaims: Jesus knew Catholics would come along and begin to worship His mother and call her perpetual virgin and absurd things like that. But the Bible says: Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary? And are not His brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all of His sisters with us? (Matt. 13:55-56a). And isnt it sad, my brothers and sisters?
Pastor Bob goes on to say: Jesus dealt with these Mary worshippers in His day. In Luke 11:27-28, the Bible says, A woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts that You sucked! But He said, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!
On a normal day you would probably just listen, take a few mental notes and drive on. But not this time. Youre feeling a little bit too saucy. You take the first exit you see and head for a phone. This is just one more reason why you need to buy that cell phone youve been talking about getting.

I wonder in the Catholic pantheon, who is greater, Christ or Mary? The Catholic Church has no pantheon. Christ is God, Mary is not.

Thats because Romanism and Liberalism both deny that what we receive from God is direct but must come through an human intermediary. Romanism denies that God speaks to us directly through his Word and that it must be reinterpreted through the Roman authority and Liberalism denies we receive our rights directly from God and those rights must be allocated by the governing elite.
Where do you get this stuff?
Because we recieve everything from God, doesn't deny the fact that God gave us many gifts, and people who serve Him.
Do you refuse to read the writings of Joyce Meyers or consider Rick Warren's sermons a "reinterpretation" of the Bible? Are those who seek their insights being disloyal to God? If the answer to the last question is "No", then you are being intellectually dishonest.

His implication that the Holy Spirit had physical intercourse with Mary, who consented, is an absurdity that is hard to believe, even from him!I made no such implication. You have a filthy mind.

I said she God had changed her will to line up with His by His grace.. and so there was no need to ask, an act of God predestined this event.. So she did consent.

Yes, quite. I do see it as do you. Just making sure that others see it.
But I am also giving Petronski the opportunity to demonstrate that Roman Catholic (yes, I know he will object to the “Roman” part) apologetics is something more than repetition of boilerplate statements, evasion of difficult questions, and condescendingly delivered but transparently impotent smack-downs.
But I’m not going to hold my breath.
To: mgist
Do you really not understand that we cannot receive salvation from anything but the sinless blood of Christ?
Does propping up a couple of preachers that are as far off the track as the Roman Catholic church do anything to absolve the heresy and blasphemy of Mariolatry?

Well, that didn’t take long.
The best thing a Roman Catholic apologist could do is apologize; and I don’t mean that in the original sense of the word.
But, again, I won’t hold my breath.
To: Petronski
You equated it with Rape, the definition of which I’m sure you know.
The filth is purely your own.

You seem surprised I didn’t answer your innocent, impartial, completely academic question that went like, what? “Why don’t you try to explain why your logic isn’t like a four-year-old cookie thief?”
Your pretense to open-mindedness and even-handedness was paper thin.

Demonstrate that your position is different than that of the little boy, caught by his mother with crumbs on his lips, who will not admit to any wrong doing until his mother, having carefully inventoried the now diminished contents of the cookie jar, asks precisely: Jimmy, did you eat 4 and 1/2 chocolate chip cookies and two peanut butter ones? Why? Why should any FReeper Catholic play a stupid game? There is no protestant here who has ANY authority over a Catholic, to demand answers.
And it's amazing how many protestants (or whatEVER the anti-Catholics are calling themselves these days) think they can endlessly ask the same questions over and over and over and over. It's a ridiculous game, nothing but a ridiculous game.
To: Petronski
Right, all you have to do now is continue to twist in the wind!

We protestants do not denigrate Mary. The vitriolic reaction to our position only indicates to me a lack of substance on the other side. That is beautifully said.
