The Scenario:
Ever have one of those days when youre feeling full of energy and vigor? I mean, youre feeling just obnoxiously happy? Well, this is one of those days.
Driving home from work, you switch on the radio to see whats happening, and you tune in to a local Protestant radio station just in time to hear a preacher speaking against various Catholic doctrines concerning Mary. The show is called Pastor Bobs Bible Hour. Pastor Bob proclaims: Jesus knew Catholics would come along and begin to worship His mother and call her perpetual virgin and absurd things like that. But the Bible says: Is not this the carpenters son? Is not His mother called Mary? And are not His brethren James and Joseph and Simon and Judas? And are not all of His sisters with us? (Matt. 13:55-56a). And isnt it sad, my brothers and sisters?
Pastor Bob goes on to say: Jesus dealt with these Mary worshippers in His day. In Luke 11:27-28, the Bible says, A woman in the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts that You sucked! But He said, Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!
On a normal day you would probably just listen, take a few mental notes and drive on. But not this time. Youre feeling a little bit too saucy. You take the first exit you see and head for a phone. This is just one more reason why you need to buy that cell phone youve been talking about getting.
Step One:

How about some details...I've got a picture of the Blessed Virgin Mary on my wall at work does that mean I worship her in your book?
That scripture is not Mary unless she has grown eagle wings and flown into the desert .
No, she is not the queen of heaven any more than she is MY mother.. that title belongs to a pagan Babylonian goddess
Opps clarify that the title “queen of heaven” is a pagan title..
Who is she bringing forth then?
As far as the wings go you need do understand symbolyism.
So the children of this pagan goddes keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ?
First, all true believers are ‘co-workers’ with Christ yet that reminds me of the bumper sticker ‘If Jesus (or God) is your co-pilot, you’re in the wrong seat.’ Simply put Christ did not need any help with mankinds redemption.
I’ve researched ‘Council of Nicea’ plenty enough.
I’ve seen several different dates attributed to this same decade (320-330AD), but basically this event is seen as when the ‘church’ split into RCC and Eastern Orthodox. I read it to mean that cultural pressure politicized the christian faith causing birth of chritian religions.
Traditions were then slowly woven into the fabric of beliefs.
I've witnessed to them and been told we go to Mary. Christmas was also interesting because more than one talked about how important the "feast day"(?) for Mary was but none talked about the reason for the season.
Admittedly these are not the sophisticated posters at FR who can differentiate between veneration and worship, but no one at their church is correcting them. It's obvious to me that this Marian heresy is serving someone other than Christ Jesus. I don't believe this is intentional on your church's part, but there is no question that a lot of RC's are more focused on Mary than Jesus.
Faith being a gift of the holy spirit and God made.
Religion being man-made and allowing of heresy.
Even that is a little much, but I'll give you a good example. There is a water mark under an overpass near me. A bunch of RC's have decided it's Mary. They put flowers at the base. They park their cars and get down on their knees and pray to this water mark. This has been going on for 1 1/2 yrs now. Apparently they think this is good nobody has taught them idolatry is bad and our God is a jealous God.
The RCC stuff concerning Mary (whatever is not scriptural) was accepted and approved by the RCC around 1850AD.
My denomination - don’t have one. If you read my homepage you’ll get all the background info I care to share. I’ll also add - no matter which church/denomination you attend, this will not save you. See John 3:16 or Romans 10:9-15

“Neither could St. John be financially responsible. He was a teenager at the time, following Jesus around, not likely to have a house (John 19:27).”
Not sure how that makes your point since your citation of John 19:27 states that John took Mary into his home!
“The RCC stuff concerning Mary (whatever is not scriptural) was accepted and approved by the RCC around 1850AD.”
What exactly did they add in 1850? You seem rather vague here.
“My denomination - dont have one. If you read my homepage youll get all the background info I care to share. Ill also add - no matter which church/denomination you attend, this will not save you.”
Well, that’s awful convenient, isn’t it? Take potshots at the Catholic church and then shuffle off.
“First, all true believers are co-workers with Christ yet that reminds me of the bumper sticker If Jesus (or God) is your co-pilot, youre in the wrong seat. Simply put Christ did not need any help with mankinds redemption.”
Mary is co-redemptrix, the analogy would put her in the copilot seat with Christ driving, which is precisely the opposite of the attitude that your quote opposes.
“Ive researched Council of Nicea plenty enough.

Quite wrong. Are you aware that it was at Nicaea that Constantinople was elevated into a patriarch, along with Rome, Antioch and Alexandria? This is one of the most important parts of the Council.
Now if Constantinople were elevated, does it make sense that the Patriarch of the East, as the office eventually became, would mark the split of the two? No. The split did not come until much later, when the legates of Rome excommunicated Patriarch Cerulius in 1054.
“I read it to mean that cultural pressure politicized the christian faith causing birth of chritian religions.”
Where are you getting this from? What books?
I’m not shuffling off anywhere. I’m right here - you do know how to get to a FR homepage - don’t you?
Re: RCC and Mary - you do know how to use a search engine - don’t you?
“They park their cars and get down on their knees and pray to this water mark. This has been going on for 1 1/2 yrs now. Apparently they think this is good nobody has taught them idolatry is bad and our God is a jealous God.”
Do you not do the same every sunday to a cross? You understand perfectly well what veneration means, you simple prefer a cross to a crucifix, that is all.
“Im not shuffling off anywhere.”
The point being that you are willing to criticise your brothers and sisters in Christ, and yet, as you’ve said, “all the information I am willing to reveal”, you are unwilling to share your faith with us.
This is why I’m calling you out here. Fair enough to criticise us, but be willing to answer the rather simple and not difficult questions we have for you. That is all.
You’ve dodged the question I am asking. Someone brought you to him. Who did so? Why are you ashamed to share this part of your faith?
I’ve answered your questions quite clearly, while you have twisted my words time and time again.
Redemption is a work of the Holy Spirit. reading the Holy Bible opened my heart and pondering the truth of being ‘born-again.’ You seem to know your catechism better than His Word.
Here’s a hint for you - double click on the post name at the bottom of any reply.
“I was raised Catholic.”
Was this so hard to tell me? Why did you leave?
“You seem to know your catechism better than His Word.”
Look, hiding that you are an ex-catholic is not being honest and upfront.
I don’t appreciate it very much, nor your aspersions on my faith.
I asked a simple question, why was it so difficult to simply tell me?
