I’m sorry, but faith and knowledge are not the same thing. Faith alone means placing your faith in Christ as your Savior. Demons do not do this, obviously - although they believe in God, and tremble. It is possible to know that God exists and still reject Him. Demons do this, but they do not have saving “faith”. Additionally, just because Lucifer knows Scripture does not mean it is wise to reject it as the sole authority. On the contrary, the fact that he uses it out of context to confuse mankind is all the more reason to take Scripture in its entirety but NOT TO READ INTO Scripture what clearly is not there as one would be doing with “traditional dogma”.

Amen, JLLH. Also, when Satan did use Scripture to try to tempt Jesus, what did Jesus do? He quoted Scripture right back at him!

I'm sorry, but your understanding of Lucifer and his minions is simply wrong. Sola Fide is the doctrine that belief that Jesus is God made Man and that he died for your salvation is all that one needs to be guaranteed eternal life. Lucifer not only believes in Jesus, HE KNOWS that Jesus is God. You say, "His is not a saving faith". Wrong again. He rejects the salvation of Jesus because it is his desire to be God. Lucifer rejects the goodness of God and it is his desire to have God's children love him more than God.

And, Lucifer does not use Scripture out of context, instead he twists it to his own end. There is a difference and I certainly did not imply that one should reject Scripture because the devil knows and uses it.

The Catholic Church does not read into Scripture what is not there. Rather it does as the Scripture itself said it should do which is to test everything against it. Nothing in Catholic theology contradicts Scripture.

Why do you reject the clear words of Jesus when he says that He is the bread of life and that one must eat his body and drink his blood in order to have everlasting life? You instead read into it what you want it to mean which is just symbolic. Many of his followers left him then saying that it was just too hard a teaching. Those that stayed went on to pass down that teaching, gathering on the "Lord's Day" to do as He commanded them. As in so many things Jesus taught them, they did not first understand what he meant or how he would accomplish what he promised.

The Catholic Church is like those who stayed.
