We grewup with all kinds of churches/faiths in our town. We ALWAYS had a respect for other faiths and beliefs. We had that respect because they had the same for ours. It wasn’t forced on us. We figured it out for ourselves and knew everyone had their own belief and faith. Plain and simple.

Interesting but I was hoping for something a little more in depth.

“They dress up for worship — how nice!” kind of sums it up. There must have been some CONTENT to be described at some point.

This nonsense will never work.

Islam seeks dominance and suzerainty over all other faiths.

It’s operating philosophy concerning warfare, reproduction and proselytisation, are all tuned toward that effort.

It’s ultimate goal is global domination, and they are stubborn in that pursuit.

What that means is, they do not accept Christianity or Judaism as valid, and will not be able to tolerate them, if they stick to every line and verse of their doctrine.

I’m sure the mosque temporary cleaned up the rhetoric for the other faiths. It would have been uncomfortable to hear all that “kill the infidels” stuff that they normally preach.

Ah yes... Interfaith respect - a thing we never see from the muslims in their own countries, and only hear about in the countries where they don’t have much power yet. Anyone who wants to know the true face of islam needs only look at any muslim-dominated country to see what the scum really think of non-mulsims...

“The greatest need that I can think of for any person of any faith is the need for Jesus Christ to be the love of their life, so they can be reconciled to God, forgiven of their sins, and have the gift of eternal life. Everything else is just potatoes and scarves.”

BINGO! The whole point of this project.

The important content was the Word of God, which both Jews and Muslims heard at the Christian service. They also witnessed the presence of the Holy Spirit. Hopefully at least one who doesn’t know the Savior was or will be convicted at a later event.

In my opinion some Christians have become too casual to God. It bothers me to see women going to church with hot pants and tube tops on or men dressed like complete slobs. OK, if that’s all someone has to wear that’s understandable, but I don’t think that applies to the majority of cases. When I was younger someone from the church would stand at the entrance to make sure the people coming were dressed appropriately. No one would dare show up with their belly and bra straps hanging out or their pants sagging below the butt.

A few weeks ago I went to a concert with a line up of Christian bands. The young man leading the band was announcing the next song while holding a Bible over his head. When he was done he threw it down on the floor to start singing. I know physically it’s a paper book, but I was hurt by the display of irreverance to the Word. I don’t think he meant to do that and was probably unaware how his action came across.

Maybe as a society we’ve lost a sense of respect and reverence to anything, including He who deserves the highest respect and honor of all. I know a lot of people who are Christian who think premarital sex, perverted entertainment, homosexuality, getting drunk, cursing, abortion etc. are OK. We’ve become too casual and tolerant of sin.

From another faith’s viewpoint, imagine the example that sets. Christians are called to be the salt and light and need to be reminded. Those of other faiths are watching us. A mutlifaith event should remind us.

True, so who needs conversion more than them?

I agree. We wore hats, gloves, dresses, etc. when I was young. Now even at Easter, folks don’t dress appropriately.

True, Islam seeks dominance. So how is it nonsense to provide Christian witness and testimony to Muslims?

“If people are on a seemingly peaceful canoe ride down a lazy river, love cares enough to warn the passengers that Niagara Falls is up ahead. “But everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.” Opinions don’t change the fact that going over the falls in a canoe is deadly.”

If you are thinking this church’s multifaith event is “all paths lead to God” or tolerance of error you are mistaken. If Christians don’t reach out to those who don’t know Jesus Christ, who will?

I meant that any idea of seeking a compromise with Muslims is futile, as long as they remain Muslim.

I understand. The good thing here is that no one is seeking compromise of anything. The Truth cannot be compromised.

If you get a moment, I hope you will like to check these sites out. Carl Medearis has made a lot of progress witnessing to Muslims among them in their world.

You would be surprised how many Muslims become followers of Jesus the Christ. The Holy Spirit works miracles on these people—all they need is a little salt and light to get started.

That’s wonderful to hear!

Anything that pries closed minds away from that demonic cult called Islam, is a very, very good thing.

“I’m sure the mosque temporary cleaned up the rhetoric for the other faiths. It would have been uncomfortable to hear all that “kill the infidels” stuff that they normally preach.”

The mosque didn’t let the non-Muslims participate in their worship. We could only observe. They also scheduled their visit during a time and day when the imam didn’t deliver his teaching. I notice they post their “sermons” streaming on the web, but I haven’t been able to check that out yet. Basically they showed us great hospitality, let us observe the early afternoon prayer, gave us a lot of recruiting materials (including an excerpted koran) and then seated us for a question and answer session.

In the days following, several mosque members were taking the imam to task about participating in the multifaith weekend. The imam said he was 99% sure there would be a conversion out of it, so it was worth it. I also found out he is somewhat involved in other “interfaith” events. So of course they are going to put their best face forward to get converts. I’m also aware of the practice of taqqiya.

I believe no one should go into this without the armor of God, but I’m also confident of the power of the Holy Spirit and our Lord’s reign over all.

I agree James. You would be surprised how many “secret Christians” there are in places where Islam is the law. In their country, by law they must be “Muslim” or be put to death, yet they are saved by Lord Jesus Christ and follow Him. Sometimes being “Muslim” is just semantics.

Oh, I forgot to say, thank you for making me learn a new word - suzerainty :)
