>> I guarantee we can be secure in knowing that death shall come visit us one and all. <<

Yes it is, but that is no reason not to fight back death as much as we possibly can.

I’ve never been very good about timing nor known anyone who has been flawless about timing of such things . . .

however . . .

FWIW . . .

I believe California will have a Hati level event or worse . . . felt seriously in Oregon and Washington before this time next year.

Depending on how many days/years you have left . . .

I believe you’ll observe quite differently and feel quite differently in your lifetime.

Well, put your money where your mouth is and make a prediction.

Not something abstract like from a Nostradamus quatrain, but something that is testable and verifiable.

Not a betting person.

Just consider it the rantings of a nut, if you wish.

I noticed that he said cruel, too. I thought it sounded strange and didn’t fit and seemed like he was implying something. You may of hit the nail on the head. He may have been saying that God acted cruelly. If this was his way of implying that God acted cruelly the man must be knowingly in league with Satan as this sounds like verbiage of a Satan worshiper.

I am not sure where God stands on Haiti but I know that we can come out from under His protection by not having true faith in Him and trusting Him as we should.

Also, I think the way this catastrophe is being handled makes Katrina look like it was handled well in comparison. People have been dying under rubble and I have seen few rescuers and the ones who have been rescuing have been doing it by hand.

The main airport has been without anyone in the control towers so that few are landing there. That is obviously one of the first things that needed to be addressed was getting people into control towers so that the planes with equipment, medicine, food and water would land. As it is, most of it and relief workers are backed up at other locations.

People haven't even had water. Bodies are piling up and I am sure in the 90 degree weather the stench has to be almost unbearable. Disease is going to be the next thing unless they get organized and fast.

I have never seen anything like it. It makes me think of Rwanda. Thousands and thousands die. Money isn't going to do dead people any good. They need to be rescued like yesterday. When other countries have had major quakes the footage coming out of them showed all kinds of people working diligently with dogs and machinery to save people. It just isn't happening in Haiti.

Obama is failing drastically and throwing money at the situation isn't solving the problem of people dying right now. Typical liberal who thinks that throwing money at a problem takes care of it when strategic organization is what will really help. Is this an exercise in UN population control?

GraceG - “Ah yes, but free will can throw a monkey wrench in even god’s plans.”

How utterly unbiblical.

Job 42:2 - “I know that you can do all things; no plan of yours can be thwarted.”

How arrogant must one be to believe that man can thwart the will of God?

God doesn’t hate Haiti.

Some cultures value life, and others don’t. That simple.

Every time China has a major earthquate, 250,000 die. Any socialist or totalitarian craphole has the same pattern.

Why? They don’t place the same value on human life that we do. That simple.

In the US, we put so much value on human life that we make people build buildings according to building codes. Bay area in 1987 has the same number of people in Port au Prince. 69 people died there during the entire period of time during the earthquake. Why? Building codes.

How much poisonous crap do we get from China, and why? They don’t place a single bit of value in human life.

And China is a superpower? Please.

>> What do you mean by free will? <<

The ability to make you own decisions without input or inference from god.

The idea that the world is not set in motion and must always follow the same path and people within said world can decide their own destiny or at least alter their destiny on their own terms.

God’s Word tells us that we are not free, because we are slaves to sin.

John 8:34 - Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin.”

Is a slave free?

Ephesians 2:1-5 - As for you, you were DEAD in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.

Scripture teaches that man is spiritually dead, unable to come to Christ - until God makes us alive (born again). In John 3:3, Jesus tells us that man cannot even see the Kingdom of God until he has been born again.

Man’s will is not free, it is in bondage to sin. Scripture always depicts man as being in one of two states; walking in darkness or walking in light, slave of sin or slave of God, son of God or son of the devil, etc... There is no middle or neutral ground where man stands making a choice, we are born into darkness with a sin nature.

The following “Question” was asked by a member of the congregation at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, and “Answered” by their pastor, John MacArthur Jr.

Question:

I wanted your opinion on a specific doctrine that you hear both teachings. You hear the free-will doctrine verses the election doctrine as far as salvation is concerned. And, I wanted your thoughts on that.

Answer:John MacArthur:

*ALL* of us will taste death, whether we die in a natural disaster or die at old age in the comfort of our beds, death does NOT discriminate. According to God, "the wages of sin is death." Then it was your singling out of 9/11 instead of any run of the mill tragedy (e.g. dead tree on city owned property crushing citizen during thunderstorm) that puzzles me. 9/11, in this context, is no different than the aforementioned (actual) situation.
