John Calvin, considered the “founder” of the Presbyterian church in Switzerland was, like Martin Luther, a Roman Catholic priest. Calvin stripped the churches in Switzerland of all the trappings, Luther kept them. Both tended to be hard on those with whom they disagreed. The Anabaptists come to mind as some who felt the rath of both men. Theology is man-made, for the most part, so I won’t get into comments on theological differences or similarities. There is man-made dogma in all religions, or religious church groups that come under the “Christian” banner. None have a lock on Truth.
