Being the “strong silent type,” Joseph says little in the Gospels. Yet he does much just by being there and by being himself: Joseph the just; Joseph the worker; Joseph the foster-father, the reliable, the available.
I've known a lot of guys like this, stoic Okies, tough as a boot, who do what they do day in and day out, lead their families through good times and bad, and plow the ground that miracles spring from.
I like to think that God has a soft spot in his heart for guys like that. I do.
