Wow what an amazingly brave thing that missionaries and pastors in Muslim countries are doing!
“An Iranian Muslim Couple Comes to Christ” - wow - powerful enough to resist the HS all those years....Isnt Christ lucky now
Not the most clever response ever posted.
Now that they’ve converted in the open they are in effect, apostates. Can they go back to Iranian society and live (literally) ?
Based on everything I’ve read...not very easily.
“BreakingChristianNews” is on the one-sentence excerpt list? How about some context at least??
Islam is the religion of peace, so what are you getting at? It is the religion of peace, right? Isn’t that what we were told ad nauseum after each Islamic massacre, murder, honor killing, torture, threat, etc.?
I nominate your post for the worst of the day.
How long did you take?
An Iranian Muslim Couple Comes to Christ
by Aimee Herd : Dec 7, 2009 : Elam Ministries
They came wanting to say their Islamic prayers, and ended up praying to Jesus for salvation!
Yesterday, I received via email one of the many testimonies of God’s Spirit moving among the people of Iran. “Elam” was founded in 1988 by senior Iranian church leaders, and has continued in their vision to train and equip Iranian Christians to reach out to their countrymen.
They maintain that since the Islamic revolution in 1979, the people of Iran have become increasingly disillusioned with Islam, and have developed a “deep spiritual hunger for the Truth.”
According to Elam, there were less than 500 Christians from a Muslim background in Iran in 1979, but today the number is estimated to be at least 100,000.
In keeping with that explosive growth of the Christian Church in Iran, are some amazing testimonies of those who have come out of the Islamic religion into the freedom that Christ brings.
Here is one of those testimonies
“Can we say our (Islamic) prayers in your church?”
On Tuesday September 15, an Iranian couple were walking the streets of a city in the Middle East where Elam graduates lead an Iranian church. The church is situated in a busy part of a tourist area and is easily visible to passersby. The couple saw the church and entered. Finding one of the church leaders, they said, “Can we say our (Islamic) prayers in your church?”
The church leaders were taken abackthey’d never been asked this before. What to do?
They decided to show hospitality and kindness and offered them lunch. The couple gladly accepted and sat down in the church to eat. One of the church leaders gave them a New Testament and began to explain the Gospel as they ate. Their conversation lasted two hours and the leader asked if they wanted to surrender their lives to Jesus Christ. The couple were ready and bowed their heads and said the sinner’s prayer. They came wanting to say their Islamic prayers, and ended up praying to Jesus for salvation!
That very evening the couple returned to join the church’s weekly prayer meeting. What a beautiful sight it was to see them slowly hold out their hands in praise to the living God they had just met!
Please pray for this couple to grow in their new found faith as they have returned to Iran where they will be discipled by other Christian leaders in Iran.
Elam ministries has developed a special prayer guide, for Christians worldwide to use when interceding for those in Iran. For the prayer guide “Iran30,” CLICK HERE.
I apologize Larry but you must admit, that sentence covers the most important part of the story.
It would take a brave person to convert people in a Muslim country and just as brave to be converted. I would never have that much courage.
Great story overall. Hope they continue to grow in their Christian faith.
This is why as Americans we must defend our freedoms.
GBY Larry.
you might think it the worst - but choosing Christ is not an act of salvation - the act is human based - my point being the title is wrong.....It should be An Iranian couple awakens spiritually to Christ”. That would be more scriptural
oh joy....i can sleep soundly now that youve weighed in
1 Timothy 2:4
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
John 6:37
All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
John 6:44
No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
John 12:32
And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.
The scripture is clear that we COME to Christ through his drawing. There is nothing wrong with saying “I came to Christ”, or “ I surrendered to Christ”. We all realize that we didn’t just DECIDE on salvation. We were drawn by the Spirit.
