There have been so many martyrs for the faith in the last two thousand years, why would God spare us and not them?

Tis my considered opinion that, just as the Jewish Pharisees and Saducees and priests and scribes couldnt recognize Jesus-Messiah way back when, so our prophecy-interpreting religious professionals wont have a ghost of a clue if he returns during their time.

Because those martyrs died as a result of Satan's and/or man's wrath, not God's judgment.
The Tribulation will be the time of God's wrath, the time when He pours out His judgment on an evil, God-rejecting world.
Those people who, during this present Age of Grace (the time during which, from the Day of Pentecost until the Rapture, when Jesus Christ makes Himself available to man for salvation and reconciliation with God) have accepted God's offer of salvation, will not be on earth to suffer the wrath that God intends for those who refused His Son and refused salvation.
There is a difference between Satan's wrath and evil, and God's righteous judgment on a wicked world. God never promised to always protect Christians from the consequences of living in a fallen world, but He does promise to get His people out before He sends judgment.

Well, unfortunately for the prophecy-deniers, the "prophecy -interpreting religious professionals", whatever that is, have something that the Pharisees and Saducees and priests and scribes didn't have: a completed Scripture, roughly two-thirds of which is prophetic, roughly one-third of those prophecies which have already been fulfilled, and the end-of-the-age portion of that Scripture which is being fulfilled on a daily basis in our time.
So those of us who know Him personally recognize Him now, and when He calls us home in the Rapture, we will see Him and know Him and rejoice at the start of our eternal lives with Him.
You have nothing to worry about. Those who know Him now will know Him anywhere, at any time.

Like he did with Noah.
Great timely, well-written, right on message. Thanks!

Yes, like He did with Noah.
Welcome!

I have thought similarly for a number of years.
I also think many of them use the name of the Lord in vain, and not because they swear.

Not sure who you are speaking of here, but when Jesus returns in the clouds, He calls His own up! Everyone will have more than a clue when millions are reported missing throughout the world.

RE: "prophecy -interpreting religious professionals" & those who know Him now and will know Him anywhere, at any time, and vice versa.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
I believe you're right, GN. I have nothing to worry about.

False prophets?
I take my prophecy from the Scripture which was written by God.
Sure you want to go there?

RE: “take my prophecy from the Scripture which was written by God.

No, I don’t want to “go there”, but I don’t know you, and I don’t trust you, and I definitely don’t trust you to speak for Jesus. For all I know, you may already be “there”. Like I done already said, I don’t trust you prophecy-interpreting religious professionals any further than I can throw a boar-hog.

LOL!!
I'm speaking for Jesus?
Nope, just repeating what He said.
And I don't recall asking you to "trust" me. You made the choice to click on this article and read it. If you choose to disbelieve what you read, that certainly is your perogative. What you are not "trusting" is not me, but Scripture.
And no, I'm not "there". I trust Christ, and I trust he Book that He wrote. Especially because I see those things He said would happen right before He returns actually happening in my lifetime. That makes it very easy for me to trust Him and what He said.

GN, if you’re, as you put it, not speaking for Jesus, but just repeating and explaining what he already said because he’s not here to do it for himself, then... you’re speaking for Jesus.

So then anyone who repeats the Olivet Discourse is speaking for Jesus because He's not here to say the Olivet Discourse again Himself.
Your response makes no sense. You'll have to do much better.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage and the door was shut. One thing I'd like to touch on that most people don't discuss or probably believe is that statement, the door is shut'...
We raptured Christians will be in Heaven celebrating the Wedding Supper...The Wedding takes place while those on earth are being slaughtered...The Wedding is over...The Door is Shut...
