And it makes sense, on that level: if you denied the Blessed Trinity but still wanted to be accepted among a cadre of anti-Catholic bigots, would you not avoid the topic, hoping it went unnoticed? Even beyond avoiding the question about the Trinity, it becomes nearly impossible to keep favor among the anti-Catholic bigots when you suggest that the burnt offerings of the Old Testament and the Passover were metaphors.
