I am not Catholic. In fact, I’m not the least bit religious and never have been. I was raised an agnostic. But I grateful for the beauty that the church has collected. I suspect that ever piece of mosaic, every statue, every painting was made and or paid for with reverence. Without the church, none of this beauty would exist. The world would be a lot poorer if all of our ancestors had been Quakers and worshiped between whitewashed walls.
