***Don’t you think God speaks through His children?***
The problem is not God; it is the certifiable lunatics that you are buddying up with.
***He speaks through ordinary Christian people all the time.***
The folks that you are snuggling up to are demonstrably not ordinary and not Christian.
***They may not be prophets but they have a gift of the word of knowledge or wisdom.***
They have the gift of insanity.
***The gifts are still in operation, you know.***

Not with this bunch.

I've let a few "Jed Threads" roll by without reading them. Has anybody yet given any better answer than "just because" to the question of why we should regard J. specifically and his ilk generally as genuine prophets of God?

If you are God, then you should be considered as a genuine prophet, or some such.

“Just because” and sometimes “just in case” and “it happens all the time.”

Not good enough.

No answers have been provided, but three methodologies have been offered up:

"You can't judge them. Only a prophet can discern if another is a prophet." (Marysecretary, IIRC)

"You can't judge them. Only his local congregation can decide if a prophecy is true." (Quix)

"You can judge them. Deuteronomy 13 & 18 say a prophet needs to be orthodox and 100% accurate, or else he's not a prophet." (yours truly)
