The right move by Bishop Sample (who, from his photo, has the appearance of a high school aged altar boy).

Perhaps some day the Republican party might also get one!

He looks real young, doesn't he?! So young that I looked up his age. He graduated from high school in 1978 which puts him in his late 40s.

Well, he was born in 1960, so he's just a FEW years younger than I am. (Four to be exact.)
But he DOES look pretty young to be a bishop!

He graduated from high school the year after I finished law school.
But you know, if you live long enough this sort of thing starts happening to you. I first noticed it when my orthopedic surgeon looked like he ought to be surfing at Malibu.

What is he doing speaking at a Lutheran church? What do you want to bet that St. Mark’s is ELCA?

I just read about Bishop Alexander Sample on wikipedia — seems like the Bishop protested the visit of Obama to Notre Dame

I love the obvious age difference here!
In a sane world one might expect to see the wise elderly prelate counseling the younger man and giving him the benefit of his experience.
Unfortunately we live in an insane world and instead, the sensible younger bishop has to straighten out the old loon who's caught in a '60s time-warp!

Imho, he looks a bit like Richard Chamberlain.

Yep, there's no fool like an old fool.
This guy was as I understand it denied senior status, so he has in effect been thrown out of a job, even though not excommunicated officially.

Hmmmmmmmm . . . .

There is a faint resemblance, something the Bishop will have to live down ('Thorn Birds' and all that).

The chins and jaws are really different, there’s more resemblance from the cheekbones up, but the good bishop has a stronger face and a higher forehead.
