Guess the Roman Church didn’t realize that at several points in the last 1600 odd years.
They’ve been doing it with amazing audacity and cheekiness many times over their existence in that time.

Many times? And only over the last 1600 years? One of the first great developments in Christianity was the Trinity. Non Scriptural, yet the Church declared it. Selected of Scripture? Guilty. Development of the Catechism? Also guilty. The Church is the foundation and pillar of truth, not Scripture. Sola scriptura is wrong, based upon, well, Scripture. The Church created by Jesus is right; the various churches of men are wrong.
Read about the authority of the Church right in Scripture. Not the authority of those off their medication. The Church turned out Origen because he thought that he knew better than the Church. It’s not that Augustine was not a great theologian, it was that the Church’s Consensus Patrum was and is the deciding factor.
Thank God I’m Catholic, not Roman.
I was thinking the same thing, LOL.
