"K, that passage was from a Pauline epistle - one of the earliest ones."

Indeed, but the article as written is about Revelation. And +Paul, bless him, turned out to be very wrong...just like everyone else who predicts and has predicted the imminent end of the world.

You want to watch for stuff like that. People make mistakes interpreting the actions and will and intentions of "Ο ΩΝ". That's why its so important to see what The Church teaches in conformity with the consesus patrum. If you don't, next thing you know, you'll start believing that bats are birds!

I have to say Kolokotronis, you couldn't have surprise me any more if you had hit me in the head with a frying pan.

I am surprised at you view of Scripture. Is this the Orthodox view? Paul was wrong in predicting the end??? That's quite an idea to toss off. Do you think the truth might be a bit more nuanced that that? How would we then trust what Paul says about the purpose of Christ's death?

“you'll start believing that bats are birds!”

Bats WERE birds - in the ancient Hebrew system of classification. They are not birds in OUR modern system of classification - but that is a difference of classification, not a gross error.
