The only European Mass I’ve attended was Easter Sunday in the Cathedral in Amsterdam, and they didn’t make any special effort with music. Most of the congregation was foreign.
I’d rather have Mexican electronic charismatic pop in a church full of believers (and children!) than Mozart in an elegant, empty museum. I realize there’s a middle ground, but I think we have to be careful about putting aesthetics ahead of faith.
I have not been in a while but S Germany and Austria still have fairly faithful people. The rest of sickeningly secular W europe make fun of them.
Amsterdam is pretty close to Sodom & Gomorah.
