So I take it you're not a Calvinist now. Correct?
It is when those in power through history, using that power to label dissenters heretic, and promote a single powerful voice in the Name of God, regardless of it's truth... That is the serious problem. That is the whore of Babylon.
(((sputter)))
How can you put forth as a negative "a powerful voice in the name of God regardless of the truth"?
What if that "powerful voice" IS speaking the truth? THAT voice is "a serious problem?" THAT voice is the "whore of Babylon?"
I think you really under-estimate how much you are deconstructing true Christianity, and at the same time letting real wolves, like the papacy, off the hook.
You play right into Rome's hand when you say there is no church but the church of me and maybe thee.
No. If I were, as I have said before, I would be a poor one. I still "attend" a Presbyterian Church, but without Calvinist conviction.
How can you put forth as a negative "a powerful voice in the name of God regardless of the truth"?
Perhaps I should have said "without regard for the truth".
What if that "powerful voice" IS speaking the truth? THAT voice is "a serious problem?" THAT voice is the "whore of Babylon?"
Of course not. But it is *not* speaking the truth. Otherwise, I would not be complaining.
I think you really under-estimate how much you are deconstructing true Christianity, and at the same time letting real wolves, like the papacy, off the hook.
Not at all. I have kept myself quiet for 25 years. I have studied for that time, seeking on my own, and refrained from rocking the boat, fearing that I would be a block of stumbling.
But the "block of stumbling" are those who do not know the Baptism of the Spirit, not I. Look to the Scriptures, and understand what happens to those who deny the Spirit. Then you may understand why I am not content to be quiet among my fellows.
You play right into Rome's hand when you say there is no church but the church of me and maybe thee.
There is no Church but the Body of Christ. It is not found in creeds or doctrines or mechanisms such as these. It is found in the Word of God, and in the inhabiting of His Spirit. The rest is pomp and circumstance.
Now, don't get me wrong - I recognize the need for structure - And I recognize the structure provided for the Church by the NT. But that is a far, far cry from both Rome and those who cling to her robes.
