I'm a Christian, so I can be "so called". The idea that the dead woman who gave birth to Jesus has a special ability is so far from what Jesus had to say, as to reveal the fruitcakes and bigots. Some of then wear ermine and wield golden scepters, ya' know! They may even let you kiss their ring, if you're nice and bow to them.
Sez who?
You???
On your own personal authority, in your own personal interpretation of Scripture?
Feh ... That means what, to me?
Thanks for proving me right.
If the woman who believed in him first, was there at his crucifixion, and received the Holy Spirit with the Apostles is just a "dead woman", then this whole Christianity thing is a joke and a big waste of time, because all you have to look forward to is being dead, blather about "eternal life" and "heaven" and "being saved" notwithstanding.
The "fruit cakes and bigots" include the holy Church fathers in the first centuries of Christendom, saints too numerous to mention throughout 2,000 years of Church history, learned theologians and doctors of the Church spread throughout the centuries, a succession of Popes dating back to the Apostles and millions upon millions of the faithful. Add to that the rich mystical tradition of the Church in which mystics have been favored with visions of the Virgin and miracles without number which have been granted as a result of her intercession and what we see is a rich tradition based on a proper understanding of Scripture, that the Virgin Mary is indeed specially favored by God.
I must weigh that against the half-baked biblical exegesis of some guy in an internet chat room or the rantings of some guy in a suit who's done a "course" on Scripture.
Americans don't have a great sense of history. They seem to think the world began in 1776. However a prudent man might consider the weight of two millenia of Christian tradition before spouting nonsense based on a purely personal analysis.
