Knowing the Bro involved above average for my FREEPER FRIENDS, I have no doubt that

YAWEH is a term os utmost reverence and endearment to him.

OH, Daniel Eggers article I posted . . .

DITTO, actually, imho, using YAWEH BY MOST ALL THE FOLKS I KNOW WHO USE IT—IS A TERM OF

—UTMOST REVERENCE
—UTMOST ENDEARMENT

It is as though “God” has become . . . generically cheapened by pagan use and derision . . . and somehow harkening back to the Hebrew Yahweh is a way some folks use to feel more intimately connected to and IN AWED REVERENCE TOWARD the ALMIGHTY OF THE BIBLE.

I don’t think scholarship has anything to do with it. They recognize it as a very treasured lofty, sanctified, sacred term for ALMIGHTY GOD of the Old and New Testaments and feel closer to HIM—ALMIGHTY GOD OF THE BIBLE—when they use it han when they use “God”—which seems to be splashed casually about by Mooselymbs, Hindus, Buddhists et al as well as atheists, agnostics and nominal “Christians” with a resulting tawdry cheapening in the process.

imho, GOD LOOKS ON THE ATTITUDE OF THE HEART.

If someone avoids meat as unto The Lord—He blesses that.
If someone eats meat as unto The Lord—He blesses that.

However, Axe murderers for Jesus would have a problem.

My 2 cents.

Valid points - which highlight just why it is that when I refer to our beloved Creator in writing, I render it as “G_d”, to impart a very deliberate visual stop to the reader, to convey my own heart’s reverence.

I still retain the scholarly objections I wrote of, for most of the same reasons already mentioned - however I will not hold it against them, because such things are not really common knowledge in our day and age.

I would not know about it but for the benefit of having personally known some of the more preeminent Biblical scholars of our time - among them (long gone now, but he was like family 20 years ago...) Ed Goodrich, who worked closely with John Kolenberger on the NIV Bible (if you have an NIV, you will easily find their credits in the front) and taught for years at Multnomah Bible School, and literally travelled the world as a lecturer and researcher.

Anyway that was the point of my query - I have known people (like you have known, no doubt) who fall all along the spectrum, from sarcastic to silly, to deliberately inconsiderate...to what I would consider Christian pop-culture gadflies - no minds of their own - just concerned about the latest spiritual trend, being seen as “in step with” everyone else - among the “cognoscenti”.

For my part - I care about being genuinely in touch with family and friends, with those in my body of believers and aware...but beyond that, loving our Saviour and just being able to say “it is well with my soul”.

Thanks for your response.

A.A.C.
