Along with Helen Keller, Johnny Appleseed is a historical figure that make significant impact in laying the foundation for the New Church in America. He is not a myth! His signature is preserved at the Swedenborg Archives in Bryn Athyn, PA.

Each Year in Ft Wayne, IN a Johnny Appleseed festival is celebrated. This is a photo from last year's festival: It falls on this weekend, Sept 19-20 this year. If you are in Ft Wayne, you may want to check it out.

“The past is another country.” Indeed. What a strange country Johnny Appleseed would see if he was among us today. The one thing he might still recognize is the fruit of his trees - and perhaps that faith can still drive men to noble deeds.

My daughter works in Leominster. My wife and I were returning from dropping something off for her at work, when we saw a sign that promised to show the birthplace of Johnny Appleseed. “Why not?”, we thought. It took us down a little side street where a minature (about 1/4 scale) log cabin stands with sign proclaiming the birth place of Johnny Appleseed. My curiosity on that score has been satisfied for life.

I just learned there is a Johnny Appleseed festival in Byrn Athyn, PA (just north of Philadelphia) on September 28.
