Pray for the Republic and Obama Week 43

Zechariah 7

4Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying,

5Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying, When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and seventh month, even those seventy years, did ye at all fast unto me, even to me?

6And when ye did eat, and when ye did drink, did not ye eat for yourselves, and drink for yourselves?

7Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?

8And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying,

9Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Execute true judgment, and shew mercy and compassions every man to his brother:

10And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

11But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

12Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.

13Therefore it is come to pass, that as he cried, and they would not hear; so they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:

14But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land desolate.

TOPICS: Prayer
KEYWORDS:
Father God, I come to You today seeking You on behalf of my nation. I confess I am the least worthy to bring forward these requests, but I come to You just the same because I know You are generous and kind and it does not please You to have to destroy the wicked; but rather, You would have all come to repentance.

Lord, we, like the Israelites, have forsaken You as a nation. Even today, as I see Americans waking up to the evils overshadowing the land, there seems to be a real dearth of people who discern the true source of our problems which is spiritual. While they may rail against the evil government they fail to recognize that all of us are part of the evil being in power. Oh, we may not have voted for them (and most of us reading this did not); but what have we done to shine light into this world so that the darkness would be drowned out? Lord, we have all failed. We have all sinned. We deserve Your wrath.

Yet, Scripture says that at least for the child of God, You have not appointed us to wrath. Jesus took Your wrath for us. And in this we have hope and joy and peace. That in that when we were yet sinners, Christ died for the ungodly - and this is the only hope we have at all.

Lord, Your prophets have spoken to the people through Your Word but they do not hear. They have cried "turn around. Turn back." And the people march forward. What will it take to get us to repent? What calamity must befall us before we hear? Must the threat to our liberty become a reality? Must we lose it all to find what is really important? I pray it is not so - yet, I want to know Christ and to love Him with all of my heart soul and mind as I should and I want my fellow countrymen and women to do the same. Lord, speak to Your people. Wake them out of their slumber. And while it is certainly my prayer that the Republic survives and returns to her foundations, my utmost knowledge is that our ultimate citizenship is with You - so I lay the requests before You and pray that Your will will be done. I am under no delusion that America deserves to be saved - but then again, neither did I.

I pray for Barack Hussein Obama. May he have no sleep until he surrenders to You. May his heart have no peace until he turns to Christ in earnest. And may Your Spirit restrain him from the evil he would do until such a time comes.

Go with us. Glorify Yourself in us. Forgive us. And may we live lives pleasing to You our Lord and Savior. For it is in Jesus' precious name I pray these things, Amen.

Not really. But thank you so much for your faithfulness friend! Our nation’s only hope is Christ. We are in this war together.
