That is not what my Church teaches.

Come on SD, that is a part of the temple ceremony, in addition to the new 'name' you are given, that name is only spoken to the husband who is required to escort her through the veil ( in practice for the afterlife). Furthermore you cannot be saved unless married to a mormon holding the priesthood.

Milton R. Hunter, LDS Conference Report, April 1949, p.71: taught - "The Prophet Joseph Smith explained that this continuation of "the seeds" forever and ever, meant the power of procreation; in other words, the power to beget spirit children on the same principle as we were born to our Heavenly Parents, God the Eternal Father and our Eternal Mother. Therefore, a man cannot receive the highest exaltation without a woman, his wife, nor can a woman be exalted without her husband. That is the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the plan of salvation."

"The women then took the oath of obedience to their husbands, having to look up to them as their gods. It is not possible for a woman to go to Christ, except through her husband." Hand-Book on Mormonism, 1882

So please, spare us all the denial that this is what your church teaches.

I'll give Saundra the benefit of the doubt, perhaps she truly doesn't know what her religion has taught, but when I was Mormon, I was taught that single sisters can go to the celestial kingdom by being sealed (married) posthumously or by becoming a handmaiden to a proper priesthood holder (man) who had himself attained godhood by doing all he must do.
