But we do know the Cardinal will not be at the funerals of of 99% of the good everyday Catholics of Massachuetts. Wasn’t there a book called”Profiles in Courage”?
O'Malley will be a concelebrant and he will be confecting the Eucharist along with Monan and any other Priest present at the altar.
A.A. Cunningham:
Well, then that is different. As I read the article, he did not seem to be involved in the Liturgy. Oh well, too bad this isn’t in Cardinal George or Rigali’s Diocese.
ROCKLOBSTER:
I am no fan of Ed Kennedy and his behavior and the way he destroyed people, i.e. Judge Bork back in the 1980’s was disgraceful, along with his views of Abortion, marriage, and his sense of entitlement that being a Kennedy meant the rules that the rest of us play by don’t apply to him.
I can honestly say that while he was alive, I could not stand the guy but now that he is dead, the least we can do is pray for the repose of his soul.
You are of course correct. I would not argue the point.
A.A. Cunningham:
While I did not watch the Funeral Mass, I did flip over and I saw that Cardinal O”Malley was sitting over to the side of the altar and thus he was not involved in the celebration of the Liturgy. Thus, he was only their as a participant in the Liturgy and my guess was he was invited by the Kennedy family even though he would not agree to allow a funeral Mass at the Cathedral and be the Main Celebrant.
Also, with the Cardinal there, if there was any chance of major Liturgical abuses by any of these priests, and for the most part from what I have read, it was reverantly celebrated Mass, it would not have happened, ie. Former Presidents Carter, Clinton and POTUS Obama trying to receive Communion, etc.
