If the RCC were convinced that popular acclaim was no indicator of theological truth, then it would not be so committed to parading its status as a separate country with gold coins being minted, its own Swiss Army protecting the head honchos with submachine guns, and the plethora of gold lined cathedrals. This is the “Church of Jesus Christ”? Please...it is the abode of the darkness.

There are reasonable and/or historical explanations for all of the above and they're readily available on the web to anyone who's sincerely interested.

I'm not sure that the Swiss Guard qualifies as an army but even if it does, protecting the Pope seems like a good idea to me. He has numerous enemies.....increasingly so, it would appear.

Of course, the good Lord can and does intervene miraculously when needed, as with JPII in 1981 but God does not want us to abandon normal human prudence and common sense.
