Father Raymond J. de Souza: A tale of two Kennedys
National Post ^ | 8-12-09 | Fr. Raymond de Souza

Posted on 08/20/2009 11:19:19 AM PDT by STARWISE

Two of the last three Kennedys have taken centre stage this week. Yesterday, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founder of the Special Olympics, died in Hyannis, Mass. Today, Senator Ted Kennedy is being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. For the last of the Kennedy sons, aged 77 and suffering from brain cancer, the ceremony in Washington is something of a valedictory.

After the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, the Kennedy family had two paths before it -- one represented by Eunice and her husband, Sargent, and the other by the last surviving brother, Ted.

When Ted goes, he will be celebrated as the most influential Kennedy of them all. But Eunice, without doubt, was the most noble.

Ted Kennedy, the runt of a demented brood. If his name had been Edward Moore (he was named for his father’s pimp) he would have been qualified for a job unpacking rubber dog bleep off a plane coming from Timbuktu.

“The sexual license that Ted Kennedy lived most of his adult life had its public policy consequence in his fervent devotion to the cause of abortion — for any reason, at any time, preferably publicly funded. The very children that Eunice devoted her life to defending are less likely to see the light of day now, in large part due to the unrestricted abortion license her brother did more than any other to defend.”

Set the stage for Catholic-Lite.

You’re very welcome. In light of
what will be coming down the road
to celebrate this hypocrite .. for
hours and days on the tube .. the
truth must be kept front and center.

Thank goodness he became a senator. I need this job.

I'm sure when one is in their sickbed and know the end is near, their thoughts go to 'where am I going'. Surely, he understands the two options 'heaven and hell'. If his mind is alert enough, he's in a turmoil now and all of his own doing. When much is given, much is expected.

They mentioned the Shrivers were pro-life. So can one assume they didn't vote for the 'rats'? You can't be for something and then vote against it.

No more then you can be against something and then vote for it...like Christians voting for Obama.

The article confused me...I thought Ted and Eunice were the last two surviving offspring of Old Man Joe and Rose. The article confused me (which is very easy to do!!!)

Breathtakingly arrogant and conceited to the end, Teddy now wants Mass. to change the law HE CRAFTED for the appointment of a replacement in the senate. After all, what’s the LAW compared with the wishes of a KENNEDY!!

That’s what I meant. If someone is pro-life, then is no way they can vote for anyone who supports abortion. Otherwise, they are not honest. Wearing one mask while while hiding behind another - that’s deception.

LifeSiteNews reported that Senator Ted Kennedy dutifully did not receive communion during the papal mass at Nationals stadium yesterday. The photographs provided and the observations of the photographer certainly appeared to indicate that.

However, LifeSiteNews received a copy of an email from another pro-life person, Daniel J. Skehan, who was near Kennedy at the function.

He wrote,

“Two of my sons and I attended the Papal Mass yesterday. We were seated in section 216, directly above the section in which Ted Kennedy was seated. Several minutes prior to the general distribution of communion a priest walked down to Ted Kennedy and gave him communion.

There was some discussion amongst we in our section about the inappropriateness of his reception of the Host. Be certain, he remained seated not out of some self-enforced respect for the sacrament, but rather out of respect for his girth and mobility.”

My guess is that Teddy decided that if was going to hell, he should have a good time on the way. But some of Father’s critics have a point. The Church in Massachusetts let Teddy get away with murder—literally—but could not bring themselves to condemn his actions and call him to penitence. That was, perhaps, because many priests had no more faith than he did.

That priest either had just heard Kennedy’s confession, or he was all too typical of liberal priests.
